Now... I might get flamed for this, but i don't give shit. I'm really tired of seeing people go "this sucks" and bla-bla-bla for no god damn reason when it comes to rap.
So :
Sorry, but Kanye doesn't suck

This song might be "weaker" than previous material, but this man is responsible for bringing a bit of fresh air into the hip hop genre while it was caught up with its own "rough and tough / gangsta rap" imagery 5 years ago. He brought concepts, fun and intellect back in mainstream rap.
The guy is also a great producer who had many hits.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, you guys saying that kind of stuff don't have a clue about hip-hop. Rap is rap. Rhythm and fucking poetry. It NEVER has been about composing a freakin' symphony or 10 minutes technical / intricate progressive metal to impress kids in the gallery. It's a social movement and it has always used samples from different music genres as references / influences of specific musical movements. There's nothing wrong with thatm as long as royalties are paid.
I'm totally with Playtopause on this one.

Edit: Also

But not all assholes are musical geniuses. Kanye West is a prime example of that.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

You have the right to I think it's just important to take care in separating personal feeling from what people accomplished. Like, i just fuckin' hate Micheal Jackson. He really gets on my nerves and I think he's an asshole. That doesn't stop him from beeing the most prolific pop artist of all time. His music will be great and timeless, no matter how much of an asshole i think he is.

Unfortunately, they're pretty gone At the start of the hip-hop movement, artists had a LOT of stuff to take off their chest. Now, they're almost all rich and all.

Of course. I never meant West is a genius. He's good, that's it.
There's far more important figures in hip-hop than him.
