Mars Volta can only hope to improve
I'm going to see Allan Holdsworth in December, I can't wait
I've seen Steve Vai twice now and he puts on such a good show, my favourite guitarist, you can't really compare the two though I don't think. They have different styles, Steve Vai seems more 'fun' to me and Allan has a more serious sound.
I'm not sure how to explain it.

I really enjoy listening Meshuggah Neurotica's solo, it's so simple and it sounds so crushing + the riff.

I'll go with stuff from my generation.
Altough checking the "best 100 solos of all time" makes me think that there's been a lot of good guitar players over the last couple of decades.

- Mr Scary / G. Lynch
- Mr Crowley / R.Rhoads
- For the love of god / Vai
- You don't remember, i'll never forget / Malmsteen

I'll try to restrict myself to these since i could go on and on...

Hmm, here are a few solos that I'm sure I've totally overplayed...

Testament - "Disciples Of The Watch" (I think I prefer the re-recorded solo personally)

Meshuggah - "Ritual" (kinda odd to hear Thordendal playing an almost conventional solo, but it works)

Helmet - "Milquetoast" (more a chord solo, but it's unbelievably dense, and Page Hamilton has such a great glassy high-end tone for that stuff)

Carcass - Bill Steer's solo in "Carnal Forge", which is leagues above every other Carcass solo

There are plenty more, I'm sure, plus countless non-metal ones...

Those are all great songs. You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget is an awesome song, despite the horribly cheesy lyrics. The bitchin' main riff and the solo make up for it.
