Stratovarius - You're thoughts..?

I'm wondering what peoples views are here on Stratovarius... I finally got off my ass and checked them out, got Elements Pt1 & 2... and I've been blown away. It's great stuff

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may
Olde time is still a-flying
And the same flower that smiles today
Tommorow will be dying...

they're alright. their main dude is fucking nuts though, read what was goin on with him around december - january-ish. I prefer stuff like SOnata Arctica & Gamma Ray more though..

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

I was first a strato fan. I've since moved on to think that Sonata Arctica is a better band overall.

Elements pt1 has some great stuff though.
As far as i understand it, Strato is no more.

I love strato. Episode, Visions, Destiny, those three are fantastic albums, especially Episode. I have an older one of theirs, 4th Dimension I think it's called. That one's a little too synth pop for me, and I have heard their Infinity album (I think it's called), and I just thought it was terrible.

That band is good, although they're sometimes too predictable and their singer just kills me sometimes. Having said that, Episode is a fantastic album start to finish and is one of my all-time favorites.

PK \m/ 666 is on a distinguished road
Old school Finnish power metal. I don't like them personally or musically. They have an impact on power metal scene so they deserve some respect.

Power metal is a growded scene and I don't think they can compete with Sonata Arctica, Luca Turilli, Children of Bodom, Nightwish or Angra anymore They are geezers now :p

I am not into power metal really and I haven't heard Starovarius' latest stuff so I can't tell what's happening.

yo, PK, welcome to the board! Sonata Artica is a definite improvement over Strato, as is Nightwish. Angra, however... how do you get past that singer? I mean, he makes Celine Dion sound masculine. I used to have some old Angra albums, I think Holy Land and Angel's Cry or something like that. Interesting music, but I never really saw them as very heavy, even though they were very fast.
