A 'tell us your favorite riffs' thread
i'm listening to Unearth this morning while programming and I felt inspired to start this thread. i did a search, didn't find any similar thread, but if i missed it let me know.
one of my favorite riffs is the riff from Unearth's "The Great Dividers" at exactly 0:58 ... ever hear that riff? it's a crushing riff! everytime i hear it i can't help but back the track up a few seconds to hear it again. i love their tone on that album. (anyone know what amps they used to record that?)another riff i dig is in the same track at around 3:18, nothing special, but the build into it and mood i think makes it cool. what are some of your all time favorite riffs? |

One of my all time favorite riffs is the main riff for Carcass' Corporeal Jigsore Quandary. \m/
Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high, Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie, Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally. Amon Amarth - "The Pursuit of Vikings" is riff-tastic.
Whatever happened to the guy I knew A media creation, a monster grew Our story had an unhappy end But this could change, I can still call him friend Take my advice, and listen to me A great opportunity, can't you see I only want what's best for you The deal of a lifetime, what more can I do IMITATION OF LIFE |

there arent many that I particularly rate, but Opeth's 'Deliverance' has an awesome riff towards the end. You know which one I am talking about.
The most metal one ever, and one I find myself wishing I had written, is the odd section in Meshuggah's 'I' at about 8:40, the bit that goes "duggada-dah-duggada-dah-dah-duggada-dah-duggada-dah-dah-duggada-dah-dah-duggada-dah-duggada-dah-dah-dah..." ![]() |
