Obliveon, your new (old) favourite band

BLABBERMOUTH.NET - OBLIVEON Catalog To Be Reissued

I made a thread a while back asking for obscure vintage thrash and someone (Eaeolian? sorry, can't remember) mentioned this band, Obliveon. While I wouldn't really call them thrash, I would call them enjoyable. Their sound is like a cross between Human-era Death and that Helmet/Prong kinda stop/start groove, and I for one dig it quite a bloody lot (at least for the one album I have so far, Nemesis, I get the impression that this band changed it up quite a bit). Some of their lyrics are pretty clever too, especially when you take into account that English is their second language (they're French-Canadian).

I just noticed on Blabbermouth that their back catalogue is being reissued, so take the opportunity to go pick em' up! There's a myspace link in the Blabbermouth article, and I'll post the vid for the song "Dynamo" for good measure. Enjoy!

that video is pretty

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Man, does that bring back memories....my old band Atrox was on the bill with them and others at the '91 Toronto Thrashfest, good band, and equally cool guys that knew how to chug the beer like champs. That was a killer gig.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.

I like it. Does remind me of death. One of the riffs kind of reminds of misanthrope. Good playing.

I love this band. Even their later Cyber-ish stuff ("Cybervoid", "Carnivore Mothermouth") is excellent. It's a shame they never found any success.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

Nemesis is in my all time favorite top ten albums! As far as I'm concerned, their entire catalog is nothing but genius.
