Fifth Angel...James Byrd's old band.

Found this during my daily Youtube rummagings. It's of its time, but not bad. James Byrd is a badass on the guitar, and improved in leaps and bounds after this band disbanded.

Dreaming in infared...

smueske is a jewel in the rough
Yeah, not sure what happened. The replacement guitarist just tried to emulate him, and by the time the second album came out Ken Mary was just doing session work for them. I'm really not that crazy about James' solo work, though. It's pretty good, but it sounds way too much like Uli John Roth for my tastes. Not that Uli is bad -- it's just that he has his own sound.

'In My Father's House' is one of my favourite neo-classical tunes. It's true he's the sum of his influences a lot of the time, but he pulls it off so well I'm prepared to forgive him for that.

Just out of interest, has anyone ever played one of his Byrd guitars?

Oh yeah, this is a classic tune. James Byrd is awesome, great guitarist.

As you say, it is very 'of it's time'.
