That is probably because someone in the area near that Guitar Center does carry Mesa. I had the same problem with the Guitar Center in Tucson who doesn't carry it because a smaller shop (Guitars Ect.) down the street does.

Except this is Guitar Center, and it always works the other way around. When GC moved into Rockville, close to Chuck Levin's--the largest independent music store in the area, with a ton of space spread across three buildings--Chuck's lost their Mesa dealership. They had carried Mesa since before I was born.

The simple truth is that GC is in a mall, and is the size of a McDonald's. They don't have much of anything.

I think there's something else to it though. Yeah, in Tucson you do have Guitars Etc. as a Mesa Dealer. The "long time" Mesa dealer was Rainbow Guitars, since the 80s yet, however somehow that shifted hands to Guitars Etc. I know at one point around 97ish, they BOTH were dealers. However, GC moved in around 5 years ago, yet they didn't snag Mesa from Guitars Etc.

In NJ, the GCs have Mesa, yet the HUGE new Manhattan GC doesn't. The Manhattan GC is one of their biggest (if not THE biggest) locations, yet they had one used Mesa there and that was all. However, down on 48th St, there is Rudy's which has Mesa, and they are the only NYC Mesa dealer.

Maybe certain long time dealers have priority over GC, but not all?

Levin's EVENTUALLY lost their dealership. When the GCs opened, they didn't have Mesa for a few years. I'm not entirely sure how it went down, but it wasn't instantaneous.

Our GC is tiny, it's considered a "tertiary" store.

The reason is that there are too many stores, Guitar Centers included, in the region which sell Mesa. I think it has something to do with profits or monopoly laws.

The dude at guitar center in the town i live in says they cant stock the mesa stuff but sure can order it in. I was actually just checking on this shit yesterday. Mesa is a wierd ass company sometimes.
