Thrash fans and/or namedroppers, step right up!

I'm in a real thrash mood, so list some thrash bands that you think I probably won't have heard. I can't promise I'll like all (or many) of them, but I do promise I'll at least try. Everyone loves discovering new bands, so in that spirit, post away!

Some more obscure ones? OK, here's some bands and what to start with:

Artillery ("By Inheritance")
Altered Aeon ("Dispiritism")
Coroner ("Mental Vortex")
Cyclone Temple ("I Hate Therefore I Am")
DBC ("Universe")
Dyoxen ("First Among Equals")
Hades ("Resisting Success")
Heathen ("Victims of Deception")
Holy Terror ("Terror and Submission/Mind Wars" double CD set.)
Laaz Rockit ("Know Your Enemy") (Earlier stuff wasn't thrash, but by this time they were.)
Municipal Waste ("The Art of Partying")
Obliveon ("Nemesis")
Onslaught ("In Search of Sanity", "Killing Peace")
Powermad ("Absolute Power")

I'll think of more, but that's right off the top of my head.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

I own releases by both, actually, Harmageddon and Dreamweaver, not that you can really compare the two bands. Both pretty decent though

I'm quite familiar with Overkill, Testament and Annihilator. I find Annihilator to be quite inconsistent, but when they're on, they're really on. Overkill, however, are the epitome of consistency Horrorscope is probably my favourite of theirs. Testament were and are just plain great.

Powermad are a band I'd never heard. First reaction to the song I just youtubed = really slick songwriting and production, especially for the era, but far too trad/power metal for my tastes. Still, they do that sort of thing really well, so I'm sure a lot of people here would love them.

I'll have to get back to you on Ritual Carnage, but I'm familiar with Anacrusis, and while I've never thought of them as thrash, per se, they're quite interesting. Not my favourite band of all time, but definitely worthy

Whew! Here we go:

Artillery: Seems pretty cool so far, nothing terribly original, but it's done well and I'd say they're a little bit ahead of the pack, songwriting-wise. Approved

Coroner: More than familiar with this band, in fact, No More Color might be my favourite thrash album of all time. Every album is a winner, even the out-of-place Grin. Couldn't reccommend this band enough

Cyclone Temple: I just checked out a song from that album and it doesn't really sound too thrashy; it kinda sits somewhere between Alice In Chains and Queensryche to my ears. It's quite good though, so I'll keep looking into them. Apparently this same lineup with a singer change made up Znowhite? Bad move, guys the chick blew in comparison to this guy.

DBC: Checked out a couple of songs and I'm not sure whether this band will be a keeper or not. They sound like one of those bands who don't really stand up to repeated listens, but I'll investigate further before I make up my mind.

Heathen: I have one of their albums, but I can't for the life of me remember which, so I'll just say, Lee Altus = and leave it at that.

Holy Terror: One of those bands I've heard of but never heard. I actually got into Holy Moses when I couldn't remember Holy Terror's name, heh. Holy Moses were so good that I never bothered with Holy Terror. They seem pretty damn good though, and so far no sign of the "Joey Belladonna being sodomised with a broken bottle" vocals, which is always a plus

Laaz Rockit: Quite generic, second-tier stuff, but enjoyable nonetheless Kinda reminds me of Hirax and Gothic Slam, so many of these bands were interchangeable...

Municipal Waste: They've really nailed the crossover sound. I've seen 'em live and they're a fun, energetic band with a failtful old-school sound that isn't contrived or a mockery of times gone by. Deemed bodacious

Obliveon: Unlike some of these other bands whose names I've heard in passing, I'd never heard of Obliveon. Pity, as I'm really liking them so far! Very ahead of their time, with a lot of elements that, if they were described to me, would probably put me off wanting to hear them, but I'm glad I have. A back-catalogue purchase is imminent.

Onslaught: Never really been into these guys It's done well enough, I guess, but just doesn't have enough personality for it to stick. Oh well.

I haven't found anything on the other three bands yet, but when I do, I'll post my opinions (because I know you're all just dying to read them:lol)

I'll also come back tomorrow (it's past midnight here) and try to add a link to a video/Myspace/whatever of every band in question, as well as some of my favourites, so people can come back to this thread for thrashloads of chunky goodness

Sadus?

I know we listed Anacrusis above, but they have all their albums for download on their website.
I also wholly endorse mike's suggests on Cyclone Temple, Altered Aeon and Dyoxen.

As far as Cyclone Temple, their album doesnt start thrashy, it has a lot of clean parts. but in some songs like "Public Enemy" and "in God We Trust" has some crazy pickin' parts that would make Jon schaffer envious.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.
