Machine Head are trend hopping whores, but damn their 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th albums are Hope to see them some time soon.

Tool have progressed naturally, but from opiate to Lateralus was pretty damn drastic transformation. Then they went from delectable lateralus to the furiously boring herpfest 10,000 days.

I heart new meshuggah over the old, but a DRASTIC transformation? Not really. It's not like you can't tell the difference, but it's not like it's that big of a deal.

U2... their music used to mean something, there used to be life, passion and everything in between in their music. Now their music is all about nothing...

Take any band and compare two albums divided by the best part of a decade and there's bound to be a big change. Doesn't mean they changed style

Snake Doctor is a jewel in the rough
In Flames - For the worse, was completely intentional also.

Megadeth - From thrash to rock, i enjoy both megadeth's for the most part, so I can't say whether it was for better or worse. However R.I.P>ALL.

Dimmu Borgir - Again I enjoy all the Dimmu material, though it's changed drastically over the years.

Satyricon - Black metal to rock. For the worse i.m.o, not because they aren't making black metal anymore, but because I find their newer stuff to be boring and uninspired compared to the earlier years.

deftones....they started heavy and gradually built towards this like, trippy, melodic with a heavy touch at times. I still enjoy their new stuff

Silverchair: Well, i guess they built on their sound every album, but damn, comparing frogstomp to their new album, its like totally fucking different band. I hate silverchair now lol

Korn: They always kept their original sound, but always seem try to adding a few new things to each record, their biggest jump was issues/untouchables era. But then again SYOTS was too...but from what i've heard of their new stuff, its even more different than anything they've ever done before.

Tool: As stated by everyone else, though i do like 10, 000 days.

Nirvana: From bleach to nevermind, was a huge change, but they were able to keep their roots there in the music, but added a more poppy sound too it, with this great dark undertone to all the songs off it. Then it gets better, they totally fucked off their sound of nevermind and released in utero, which was a totally in your face, anger filled album that sounded nothing like nevermind. All in an attempt to fuck off their mainstream success, but in trying to do that, they created a kick ass unique album! FOR THE BETTER! Everyone knows i love nirvana

I could name alot more, but they're my main ones that people could relate too here. I could throw in manson, pantera, slipknot, stone sour, rage against the machine...as all for betters too.

In Flames completely slipped my mind.

Talk about changing for the worse. And yeah, it was intentional, and that's why it's so sad. They've even gone as far as telling their fans that like their old stuff but not their new stuff to "fuck off, we don't need you".

Great way to treat the people who have dug your stuff for a lot longer than the trendhopping whores who might now.

Agree 100%. They've gone from being an intelligent, original rock band to little more than a platform for Bono's collosal ego.

Lakini's Juice, off, um... Secret Samadhi. Easily one of the best two or three tracks off that disc, and sort of what I had in mind when I thought of them - compared to "The Beauty of Grey," it's a pretty striking evolution, all the more so because it completely skips over the lush lower-gain tones, minute-long feedback and delay endings, and harder-hitting on/off dynamic songwriting of "Throwing Copper." the way the vocal comes in for the second verse ("Inside the outside, by the river, used to be so calm, used to be so sane...") just flat-out rules.

Korbain, I'll buy a big stylistic change from "Bleach" to "Nevermind" (with "incesticide" in between as a lesser step) in Nirvana, going from very heavy, almost sabbath-y riffing too the post-punk dynamic shifts that came to define grunge, but unless you want to talk about unplugged, the changes from Nevermind to In Utero were more of a refinement than a drastic change. I love the band too, but I really don't think they fit here.
