Most people don't like LiP, but it's my favorite album by them, followed by their debut self titled, and half of FtL (the half without rap). Such imaginative, thoughtful riffing on those albums, it's a wonder how they can even be considered a band anymore. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my kantele kicks ass, the acoustic reprise, i love that damn sitar unfourtatly with my dying bride, the quit the violens, once they bring them back, i would say their music would turn for the better, and personally, i think porcupine tree has put out their least inspiring album to date imo, but on the up side i do think rotting christ's latest albums have been rippin, morbid angel fell in the crapper too |

![]() | Trvium. Personally I dig both styles (Ascendancy and The Crusade) because they both have something about them that appeals to me. I can look passed Matt's screaming on Ascendancy even though I like most of it.....and The Crusade is progressive as hell. So yea.....for the better. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Coheed and Cambria's an example most of you won't care anything about ![]() Their first album had some great songs, but overall was a little typical sounding (or maybe it's that a lot of bands have started sounding like their first album? ) and overall gets old fast as it takes them a while for each song to get to the point (with a few exceptions).Their second album was a huge step forward, with more focus on song-structure and killer catchy hooks. Their third album took the song-structure of the second album, the complex guitar lines of the first album, and added some classic rock influence from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc. and some killer guitar solos. I'm interested to hear how their next album will sound. The original bassist and drummer from the band quit a while back, but the bassist has since come back. They're working with the drummer from Dillinger Escape Plan for the album, which should be interesting. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nocturnal Rites was originally a death metal band...then they went to a somewhat Maiden-ish "B Power metal" as my friends call it for the first two albums, the third album served as a sort of bridge between that and Afterlife....when Johnny Lindqvist joined the band, they got ridiculously heavy, and they kept that basic sound for the 2 albums after that, then on Grand Illusion they introduced some more poppy elements, and those have come out even more on The 8th Sin. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ulver. I think it's pretty much as drastic as you can get in a way, from black metal to movie score electronica. The Gathering, pretty much the first female fronted goth rock band, once they got rid of the bloke they had on their first album i believe. Katatonia, although this has been a steady evolution. From copying paradise lost, to brave murder day, and then into the behinnings of what they do today. |
