You know the part I don't get?
I saw an interview with Bruce Dickinson on Power Hour recently on MuchMoreMusic here in Canada. A full hour of talking casually with him and playing Maiden videos. And he seemed like the nicest guy possible. Just really down to earth and nice. Has a great job that he loves and respects the fans for giving him that opportunity. He's a commercial airline pilot for god's sake ![]() |

I have to pipe in after reading this thread.
Iron Maiden absolutely rules. The have consistently given 110% of themselves for their fans, and they are masters of their art. I don't care what Bruce Dickinson had to say about Ozzy or Ozzfest. He may be a prick, he may not, I don't care, and I'm sure that some of the stuff they claim that he said would not have affected the Osbournes so much if it hadn't been true, but the assault was on the fans and not on Bruce personally or the band. Hey, stuff happens when you get two opinionated Brits in the same room as the beer. Bruce Dickinson is not only one of the best singers metal has ever known, but a commercial pilot, an accomplished fencer, an expert on British locomotive systems, and God knows what else, and after all these years still belts it out like he was sent here by God to do what he does. The rest of the guys in the band, while I know decidedly less about them, are consummate, talented professionals, who have never let their fans down. When one of the guitarists left for a stint but decided to come back later they didn't kick the new guy to the curb. He was part of the Iron Maiden family, so now there are three of them now. Heck, the more the merrier. Also, if you've read any Maiden lyrics, you'll find that the band is one of the most well read, literate, intelligent groups of people in the music business. I actually learned as I listened to them while I was in school. Ozzy is a has been who would never have been were it not for the guitarists he's hired over the years. He has no voice live, cannot sing two nights in a row, is on prozac, and needs to be put in a rest home. Speaking of guitarists, when I think of Black Sabbath I don't think of Ozzy at all. I think of the man, the machine, the godfather, Tony Iommi. Yeah, baby! As for Sharon... I'll leave her alone. Karma will take care of her and it is not going to be pretty. About the waving of the flag, my wife is a Soldier and I work for the Department of Defense, the British are serving side by side with us in the trenches, taking casualties just like us. They are our brothers in arms, our friends, our true allies. Ask a Soldier, the Brits will trade alcohol for our MREs! Now that's cameraderie! Their flag deserves the same respect that ours does, the respect that our own flag was not afforded by the Ozzfest crew. I want to add one last thing: you guys on this thread have been awesome about this. We all know unprofessionalism when we see it, and none of us tolerate it at all. Cheers guys! Long live Iron Maiden. |

This will all sort its self out eventually I'm sure. After having a day to ponder the events discussed here. All I can come up with is 2 words. " YOKO OSBOURNE". The first time I saw Ozzy's little bullshit reality show it made me sick. No wonder he is so messed up and back in forth to rehab. My god his family is fuk'n nuts! That is shit I could have done with out. For me that was the down fall of a "rock and roll legend". Instead of being "Ozzy Osbourne the mad man" he's nothing more than "Ozzy the the confused". After watching that show I just couldn't believe Ozzy even agreed to something like that.... He's portrayed as an idiot! I'm sure there are alot of bands out there that feel the same as Bruce. Maiden or Bruce at least simply calls it as it is. Just as Ozzy would if he wasn't Sharons "ASS PUPPET". The fact that she endorsed such bullshit behavior show absolutely how immature she is,,,it is now very obvious where Kelley gets her disposition from. Its like some sort of Communist ego trip she is on,,,, I mean come on, this "All mighty ozzfest" has gone to her head! Makes me wonder how many other band that are still on the Ozzfest tour feel the same way that Bruce did,,but are just afraid to say anything because of "play ground bully's" may beat them up? Every thing is fine as long as it goes there way. Cross that line and it's back to grade school. Had all this shit not been aired on MTV about Ozzy's teleprompters and lyrics posted on stage,,,etc...... Nothing would have or could have been said, But who made all that available?
So the hell with all that shit! Yoko "O" will reap the rewards of her "valiant efforts",,,and poor Ozzy probably won't have a damn clue? UP THE IRONS! ~A |

I got to thinking about what I might have done had I been part of Maiden's crew. I can't believe some serious cans of whoop-ass didn't get opened up...

My two cents - does anyone actually go to Ozzfest anymore to see Ozzy?
Sharon apparently doesn't know which side of her bread is buttered, to use a very tame metaphor.
"...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon."
