Alice In Chains workng on new material

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...wsitemID=71296

It doesn't mention whether or not William Duvall, the singer they've been touring with, is contributing to the songwriting process, but Jerry Cantrell's solo albums were both great so I have faith that either way, this will result in a good album thatt doesn't tarnish the Alice In Chains legacy. Thoughts?

I've got mixed feelings about jerry and the boys going on without layne. He was to important to the group to simply go on without him. I think it might be best for them to let alice die with layne. Another jerry solo record would make me happy.

whatever they do, I'm a diehard fan and I will be there to listen and buy whatever they put out. Hopefully they prove me wrong and make some kick ass tunes. I know they are capable of doing so.

Thumbs up It Depends.....

The best thing about Alice In Chains was the vocal harmonies of Layne and Jerry. If the new guy can do the same I don't think it would tarnish the memories of Layne. I think Jerry, Mike and Sean will do it the right way as a proper tribute to Layne and all of their loyal fans.

I'll listen to whatever they do. No matter what, AIC is still Layne with Jerry.

I agree. Layne Staley is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. His voice influenced so many other singers that all you heard at one point was a bunch of Staley clones. Anyway people forget that Jerry C was/is an integral part of the band. He wrote, played and sang throughout their career. And is damn good at all three. I'd like to see them continue to evolve.

In my honest opinion a simple name change would be the best course of action for the group, it would preserve the Layne Staley Alice in Chains as well as silencing anyone who doesn't approve of the new material. I really think Metallica could have benefited from this when they released Load.

I feel that way too. Without Layne and all. I still think it'll be alright though. It'll be worth checkin' out for me.
