Custom Herc Hangers!!

First Pic Story......

I'm of the nature that if the axes aren't out I'm too lazy to go get em. Many of my guitars see little play time because there is just no where to put them. Had a mess of guitar stands sitting around the family room, taking up all kinds of room, leaving the risk that they get knocked over, etc.

Time for a clean up......

Got a great deal buying these in quantity. The goods....

After disassembly.......

The carnage....

Went to the local saw mill and picked up some raw stock walnut.

The plan.....

Planed it, sanded it, drilled new holes. Here it is after the first couple coats of urethane.....

After 6 coats of urethane and some mounting.....the payoff...

Now the majority of my collection is close at hand and secure in their self locking Herc hangers.

BTW - These are the first pics of my axe collection too (most of it anyway). Wasn't able to get decent pics until now. Hope it inspires someone else.

Edit: Wow! Just noticed how bowed my walnut looks in these pics. Doesn't look quite so bad in person.......time to get a jointer!

Edit 2: Oops forgot the obligatory 56k warning......sorry rural dudes!!

Heh heh...no not a Benton....good story though....

It's a JEM555, otherwise known as a Jem Jr. but oddly enough....though this is one of the early ones (evidenced by the black pg) the headstock does not say "Jr". Just Jem. I bought it around 1993. In any case, it's been my mainstay for a long time now. And yes! That's Vai's real sig!

The Kramer was my first "good" axe and it's about a 1985 American Pacer Deluxe. Nice to have it back out.

Bartok is just really niceBartok is just really nice
Good stuff!
On a side note, I'd like to bring up how jealous I am that you can just go 'to the local saw mill and picked up some raw stock walnut'. In the UK your often lucky to get pine that size I love walnut! But It's horribly expensive here, usually rules it out.
