um um um
awesome like how? Cuz DT fans tend to be very divided on such things.
maybe give us a general description/comparison or something?

For some reason I'm just not excited about it. Either it's because DT kinda disappointed with Octavarium, or because I'm more into the psychodelic prog lately, like PT. Probably the latter.

I'll definitely still pick it up though; still love the band, and always willing to give them a shot.

It seems to me that DT release a good album, then a not so great one, then a great one, then a not so great one... and so on. I loved Train of Thought but hated Octavarium, but things are looking good for this one, especially since, according to Portnoy "There won't be any 'I Walk Beside Yous' on this album."

Anyway, apparently there's also a special edition DVD coming out too:

Quote:
Special Edition CD and DVD:
The Special Edition DVD will include:
- the entire album mixed in 5.1 surround sound
- "Chaos in Progress - The Making of Systematic Chaos" (a 90-minute documentary directed by Mike Portnoy)

The CD's track listing for both editions is:
1. In The Presence of Enemies Pt.1 (9:00)
2. Forsaken (5:36)
3. Constant Motion (6:55)
4. The Dark Eternal Night (8:51)
5. Repentance (10:43)
6. Prophets Of War (6:01)
7. The Ministry of Lost Souls (14:57)
8. In The Presence of Enemies Pt.2 (16:38)

The band will shoot a video next week for the first single off the album, "Constant Motion".
I hope since the SE DVD is listed as special edition DVD and CD, that it includes the CD mix as well. I need to be able to listen to this in my car!

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing

I thought that was just a joke cover image at first.

Oh man. If they would just ease off the cheesiness of the prog stuff just a LITTLE i think i'd still worship them like i did for the first two years after i got ToT. It's just too much for me sometimes.

and on the topic of singles. Anyone else think they could've had more commercial success trying to market one of the heavier tunes of Octavarium like These Walls or Panic Attack to the mainstream rock/metal crowd? I thought These Walls had nu-metal written all over it, being in Drop A and such...
