![]() | A band came into today that surprised the hell out of me. I couldn't remember their name, so I kept thinking it was going to be cock rock. Then they showed up and they were "hey were Evicerated" and I was thinking "hell..yes...death metal." Then they setup and started playing and I was like lol. They don't have a bassist, and their equipment isn't the best, but I did manage to get the drums to come out pretty decent and I kinda lost motivation on the guitars but I think they came out OK. They are really happy with it, so I'm content with it as long as they are. These are rough mixes, their singer will be in next Tuesday to throw down vo-kills. Check out mp3's @ http://www.guitar-dominion.com/006/Evicerated Oh yeah, the guitarist was using an Ibanez S seven string. Latah.~006+1 .:Guitars:. ![]() | Hmm, not to be a downer but I didn't care for it. One criticism though... that snare has to go!!! It is the most annoying snare drum I've ever heard in my life. Rev. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | not to sound like an ass....but is the band ok with posting this material? only reason I am saying...if i was in their shoes and this happened to stuff we were in the works on recording and i found out it was posted. I would be one unhappy camper. __________________ Scott Kroeker 7 String Melodic Guitarist www.scottkroeker.com www.myspace.com/scottkroekermusic |

![]() | Yeah the band is ok with it, they actually encouraged me to show it to people. I would NEVER "leak" anything unless the band suggested it or I asked if it was ok first. Thats just a common no-no. The snare is something that has to stay, the drummer insisted on it sounding like that. I even tried to sneak in some eq on it while recording to get rid of the ping and resonance (to make it more snappy and tight *to match the kick*) but everytime I made a big enough difference he would be like "hey did I hit the mic or something? my snare sounds different." so I would have to put it back. What I used for the kick...well, I don't recall what brand of drums he was using, but it appeared to be a low-end kit, and the mic was an Audio Technica, I don't remember which model (we have several for kick/bass cabs), I usually try to mix it up every session, so it can get confusing trying to remember what was used on what, yanno? Very little compression since he was a very consistent drummer, and of course boosted high end for the click. I did add a Waves MaxxBass plug to the kick to give it more thud though, and since they didn't have a bassist, I had a lot of room in the low-end area of the mix. Latah. ~006+1 |

![]() | They guitar and everything was freakin some awesome stuff, but like everyone else said you gotta get that damn snare out of that mix, at least lower its volume or something. I also doubt that I'll like it when the vocals are added. But besides that, kickass. Also, where do you work at? |

![]() | Well now you have everyone saying the snare sound sucks. Maybe you should show the whole band this thread so they'll convince him to listen to the advice. But like someone else said, at the very least lower it's volume. It's waaay too upfront in the mix. Rev. |
