Children of Bodom

Random thought here...

I've been listening to CoB for a few years. I own all of their albums and saw them live for the first time in 2003 (Dimmu Borgir, Nevermore, CoB tour). I like CoB's music, they are a good throwback metal band. Despite having 3 albums out at this time, I knew nobody (other than myself) who even had heard of CoB. I remember at that show, many of the fans were basicly booing CoB because they wanted Nevermore and Dimmu, and didn't want to hear an "unknown" opening band.

Somehow, CoB went from their to become a fairly large "underground" metal band. I would be willing to say that CoB are more popular than Nevermore now...and maybe even more popular than Dimmu Borgir. But the question I am still asking myself is, "What did CoB do in the last year or so to get so popular???"

I dunno... rocked harder than no other?

Hey, can you do me a favor? I don't have all their albums, but I've seen them live several times now. There's one song they play that has a classical spot in it where the guitars and keyboards are going at it that just sounds so awesome? Do you have any idea what song that is and what album it's off of?

Papa Shank is a jewel in the rough
word of mouth, I remember on a different forum as soon as one guy mentioned them EVERYONE wanted a piece of them, that said I doubt most of the people that jumped onto the bandwagon are still into CoB. I'm into them but I only really dig some of their songs, stuff like Hate Me!, Bodom Beach Terror, Follow the Reaper etc.

Regor : they feed off each other in a good few songs

just back to edit in, Kissing the Shadows is beyond amazing

Hmmm, here are some guesses:
Hatebreeder
-Bed of Razors

Something Wild
-Touch Like Angel of Death

Follow the Reaper
-Mask of Sanity
-Hate Me

Hate Crew
- Deathroll
-Triple Corpse Hammerblow
-Hate Crew Deathroll
-Angels Don't Kill

Honestly, CoB use a lot of classical sounding guitar effects andkeyboards so really hard to know which you mean Maybe someone else has a better guess than these.

Yeah, CoB are excellent. Hatebreeder is a classic altogether!

Saw them live last year, and oh my what a fucking show!

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

No, it's not classical 'sounding', it's straight up classical music. It happened for only a short part of the song, where the whole heavy metal aspect of the song stops entirely and it's a total classical breakaway in the middle of the song, then it goes back to the metal. And it's not on Hatecrew, that I'm sure of.
