![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why is this guy so famous (according to the description) when all he did is cover JerryC's version exactly the same as JerryC, but didn't do nearly as good of a job? I'm not saying I could do it better, but I don't see why this guy is famous for covering another guy's song, even using the other guy's backing arrangement and exact notes (did he look at a tab?) and not doing as good of a job on top of that. It's on JerryC's website for download. Just look it up on google and you got it. ![]() Last edited by Naren; 03-09-2007 at 11:23 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

http://jerryc.tw/ Not sure how you mean "didn't do nearly as good a job"? In what way? And you could say that Jerry Chang is famous for covering Johann Pachelbel...

What I mean by he "didn't do nearly as good a job" is that there are a lot of mistakes in this version. Such as the sweeped parts, which are very sloppy with a lot of notes missed. Please note that I'm not saying I can do better. But, I've seen other people on youtube cover this much better than this guy. Why do it the exact same way? If Joe Satriani covers an Yngwie song, it's going to be clearly Joe Satriani's style. But, I would agree that Jerry C is famous for copying Pachelbel.

![]() Never saw the point of "is-it-live-or-is-it-a-recording" or "is-it-a-cover-or-the-original" versions myself either. Check the backing track to Emma Bunton's cover of Edie Brickell's "What I am" for example... Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Here is the original video (that started it all): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by8oyJztzwo Now you can see why I think the cover in this thread isn't nearly as good as the original. And he's not just "copying" Pachelbel. There's a reason why it's called "Canon Rock." He completely re-arranged and added drums, metal-style power chords, pinch harmonics, sweep picking, palm muting, shred licks, etc. It doesn't sound anything like a symphonic performance of Pachelbel's Canon like you hear at weddings. |
