Mattias IA Eklundh has changed my way of thinking

I picked up both Freak Guitar CD's, as well as a couple Freak Kitchen CD's. What an absolute nut on guitar. Truly the most unique stuff I've heard in ages. You can tell the obvious Vai and Zappa influences, but he brings everything to the next level.

His use of a trem is unlike any other. Truly awesome shit. I highly recommend him, if you've got an open mind and a sense of humor.

Yeah, the guy is a genius and absolutely hilarious as well, go on youtube and check out some of the clinics he does. Unfortunately, I was away when he came here in September but i'll try and catch him next time round.

I've never heard of him prior to this thread. Just checked out some vids... he's AWESOME! I'm going to go buy some of his cds. Are they available at places like best buy or are they special order kinda things? Maybe he'll be at NAMM this year.... I'd love to see him play in person!

P.S. I didn't know the IA Applehorn was his signature model either! Funny stuff!

One of my favourites

Amazing technique and very musical. My favourite song of his is Woman in Seat 27A, which is one of his least shreddy songs. I also love his cover of the Fletch theme, nicely 80's

Yeah, Woman in Seat 27A is fantastic. Father is great too. Really, there's so much diversity, it's hard to pick!

I had to special order some, and the others I got as gifts (which were most likely special ordered too). Try Amazon, or you can order directly from Favored Nations for Freak Guitar stuff.

damn its good to seem some eklundh fans here, he may not play a seven, but damn if he doesnt coax the craziest sounds out of his six with just a guitar and amp. He is so godamn precise, listen to how little gain he plays with, and i bet he would be the coolest guy ever to hang out with, there is that 30 minute clinic where he acts like a more add robin williams who can shred haha!
