Does anyone else here think Jethro Tull is awesome?
I bought my dad a CD copy of Stand Up last year for Christmas or something like that, and yesterday I put it on while I was cooking some bacon. Suddenly I see why these dudes were so influential.

Yes they were awesome and ground breaking at the time. I saw them do a show in 1973.

I certainly have a soft spot for some vintage Tull, though I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan.

Tull rule. Beastie is excellent, Aqualung is a great album. That whole proggy period in the UK and the US produced some epic material. Billy Cobham anyone??

How can you NOT think Jethro Tull is awesome?!?!?!
I have Aqualung on vinyl. Original pressing. My dad bought it the week it came out. Its glorious hearing it how it sounded when it came out. "Yeah, sometimes when you're cool, you spontaneously combust into a fireball of awesomeness" - RenegadeDave |

Ian Anderson is on tour with Thick as a Brick 1 and 2. And he's not coming anywhere near my city.
So what did everyone think of Thick as a Brick 2? For those who haven't heard it, it's awesome. |

Just picked-up Thick as a Brick on vinyl with the full newspaper sleeve. They sure don't make album art like they used to...

Yeah, I meant to type "album art"... but the new one is good.

Great band, love their older stuff like "Minstrel in the Gallery" just as much as the synth-heavy 80s and the straight rock 90s, got to see them in Cologne on their "Catfish Rising" tour in 1991 (I think), absolutely amazing live performance.
One of my favorite songs (not really very typical for their usual style, it's more like their "Rage for Order"-phase ) |

If I'm in the mood to stand around on one foot and play the flute, then yes, I'm all about Jethro Tull.

HUUUUUUUUGE Tull fan here.
![]() "Skating Away" is one of the few absolutely perfect songs ever recorded, IMO. "Thick as a Brick" is a masterpiece, as are "Aqualung" and "Living in the Past." Just about everything up to "Stormwatch" rules (and even that album--the beginning of an apparently permanent slide, IMO--has "Dun Ringill," another monster tune). I can honestly say that Tull got me into rock music way back when, and that they occupy a special place in my musical pantheon. "Grondar, untie Mr. Paslo." "But he's told us nothing!" "There's a customer!" |

Science has proven that Jethro Tull contains 90% awesomium and 10% jazzy rippage on flute, what is there not to love?

The last record I sought out was "Roots to Branches" and I really enjoyed it.
I just can't afford to purchase all the music I want, so I go in spurts. WWW.MYSPACE.COM/TONYFLYINGSQUIRRELMUSIC http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=268162 Seven Strings to rule them all, Seven Strings to find them, Seven Strings to bring them all and in the music bind them. |

I'm a big Tull fan! When I was growing up in the 80s (yeah I'm that old), while everybody was shredding to the hair metal, spandex of doom type bands I was geeking it out on JT, Yes and Zeppelin. I like JT specifically for their great, imaginative arrangements and Ian Anderson's great take on life through his lyrics. JT was never a drug induced band Anderson's never been a druggie which is pretty amazing considering his borderline apoplectic behavior on stage.
