![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Christmas CD reviews Amongst the clothes and other things were a few CDs: Slayer: Christ Illusions - wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but a non-remarkable Slayer album, can't really remember any stand-out tracks lol. The completest in me had to get it though. Deftones: Saturday Night Wrist - I'd heard this already on MySpace, but obviously it sounded better through proper speakers (as I only have a laptop). Pretty kewl, prefer the heavier moments, needed more Steph though. Korn: See you on the Other Side - This is actually pretty good, I was worried they'd keep trying to capture the glory of their youth ala Take a Look in the Mirror. I also have the special edition, so I have a free 1 year membership to the fan club, although I haven't used it yet, so maybe someone else can have it!? Once again, catchy! Aborym: Generator - Industrial BM, owns. Rather ferocious and kvlt. Pendulum: Hold your Colour - Drum and Bass, but... well, just awesome, not the shite d'n'b you used to have to listen to in college that the 'lads' liked lol. Highly recommended if you want something over than guitar bands lol. It's massive, catchy and relaxing/dancey in equal measures. Lefty Musketeer ![]() |

I guess the story goes one of his archivists found a tape labeled "Ray Charles with Count Bassie," immediately flipped when he assumed it was the two of 'em playing together, popped it in, and was disappointed to hear that, not only was it the two of them playing a night together but doing two seperate sets, the recording of his band was pretty dismal because it was a line off the main board so the vocals were the only thing that was recorded cleanly. However, the idea kind of stuck, and he ended up making a few calls and re-assembling Bassie's band to put them into a studio to retrack what Charles' band was playing. The results are actually pretty damned good, particularly on some of the funkier cuts - "Every Saturday Night" positively smokes. Ray's kind of in this year, but if that doesn't bug you then this is an absolutely awesome album. "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |
