Hey, Nick, that's an awesome album and I listened to half of it on my way to work. Although he's pictured with it, it's hard to hear that he's actually using his Carvin 7 on the album. Still, it's an awesome album and I think it's the only album he's used it on......or at least just for the album cover.

Chromaticity was the first MacAlpine cd I bought last year, then I bought Evolution (1995 Shrapnel), brilliant album, it's where he started his transition to fusion but prior to that album 1994's Premonition, while mostly neo-classical, the track Czar has alot of blues and Inflection (which features Jens Johansson on keyboards) is total fusion. If you really like his fusion stuff, check out Violent Machine (1996), it is awesome too and probably my favorite album by him.

I'm a Big MacAlpine fan too! I do hear some 7 string on Chromaticity here and there and as Shawn states, it's an awesome album.

I think I like every one of his solo albums except Madness. It's a bit too much of a departure from his other albums in my opinion.

All of his albums with Planet X feature 7-string, including "Universe", "Live From Oz", and "Moonbabies". All highly recommended.

Cheers, Pete, good to see you here. Madness was my next purchase actually.

I gotta get around to buying some Planet X.

As I posted earlier about, Violent Machine, it took me a long time to choose this one over Chromaticity because of the production.

This album has his best compositions and playing IMO. His tone is awesome too, I believe he's using a Wolfgang sixer as it is shown on the back of the cd. The production isn't as good as the rest of his cds that I own but the whole album is fantastic.

thanks guys I need to check some of these out. I love Tony's phrasing.
on chromaticity on "Isis" and "Still Valley" I can hear some 7 use but that's about it.
I actually have "Violent MAchine" and "Evolution" I just haven't gotten around to listenig "Violent Machine" yet.
Definitely no 7's on Evolution but there is some really good stuff on that cd.
I've got Planet X "Universe" I haven't listened to that one yet either( I bought like 20 shred dc's at once on amazon a few months ago and I just haven't gotten around to listening to all of them yet (but I'm listening to "clonus" right now and it sounds pretty freaking good ) so Planet X has lots of 7 usage on it? cool
I'm looking for some 7 string shred instrumental stuff I guess this Planet X is a good place to start any other suggestions?
