Psycroptic - The Inherited Repression

Tazmanian Death Metal! CAN NOT wait. seriously, its gonna own so much. their latest album is what really sold me on this band. its damn good. the albums before that are good too, just not what i prefer. saw these guys with nile and ex deo, what a good show! (besides the sub vocalist, and me being sick :[ )

ive been a big fan of psycroptic till recent times

i really struggled to find good parts in (Ob)servant, and i really liked Jason's vocals on Symbols, but now its nearly all hardcore style yelling

and so far what i heard on this new album, it seems like the wankery is in full force, and more shouting is at hand

not saying these guys suck, but i do not like the new direction of their songs at all

i LOVE the shouting vocals! haha. and (ob)servant has soooo many sick melodies! i like the old stuff too, but i literally cant help to laugh when he busts out into those "creature" vocals or however the hell there called. hahaha, korn inspired?? lololol

I'm not sure why they are trying to simplify their song structures so much? The riffs on this album (the songs I've heard anyways) seem to be on the same level as the older stuff except they are repeating them over and over and over until they get boring.

Oh well.... Still my favorite band. I'll probably listen to this for a month or two once it comes out and then go back to scepter and symbols...

That said bands do tend to release the most repetitive and boring songs first so maybe the rest of the album is more insane.

Yea, they really went downhill after symbols. That album should have been called 'Foreshadowing Failure'.

curious to hear this. really dig their style, but found (ob)servant to be a little redundant after a few tracks. great tone, and playing though. found out about em from a michael keene interview online.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

At the very least, the production on this album crushes that of the two before it, though, and the riffs are still as original as ever. But it just doesn't have that X factor that makes Scepter so special, and some of these drum parts are terrible...

Oh man you gotta get on that. Psycroptic shit is some of the funnest to play. And its hard enough that you will feel like you accomplished something once you nail a song. I play most of Initiate right off the rip if I ever tune to Drop D.

Listening to the stream now, I am in love with their tone (and playing ofcourse). Always liked the hardcore style vocals too, most of the death metal bands I listen t o I have no idea what their songs are about if I don't have the booklet next to me.

For the most part I agree, but id put it on par with Ob(servant) at best. That release seems to get some hate, but I love it and its def my favorite Psycroptic album. But this ones close behind. Ill need a little more time to see if this one grows as much as Ob(servant) did. And Euphorinasia is just awesome.
