Here is my long list of Melodic Death Metal bands that I’m a fan of. I’m sure there will be lots and lots of debates on whether or not some of these bands actually fall under the genre of “Melodic Death Metal”, but I consider all of them to atleast be Melodeath-influenced in someway, and lot of them are kind of bridged between different genres other than Melodeath, so next to certain bands I put what other genre you might categorize them in.
The Unguided Disarmonia Mundi Scar Symmetry Solution .45 In Flames Amon Amarth Blood Stain Child (Also considered Trance Metal) Timecry Degradead Blinded Colony/The Blinded Insomnium Norther Universum Dark Tranquillity Cipher System The Absence dEMOTIONAL Laments of Silence Neptune Ceremonial Perfection Be’lakor Anoreski Marionette The Stranded Amaranthe Satariel Eternal Tears of Sorrow Zonaria The Project Hate MCMXCIX (Also considered Industrial Metal) Sangre Eterna Odium Code for Silence Obtenebris Rise to Fall Tracedawn Dark Age Fallen Joy Lost Dreams Faithful Darkness Paul Wardingham Sunless Rise Stalked by Scarlet Slaystation Mysore Silent Descent (Also considered Trance Metal) Sacrilege GBG Dead by April (Also considered Pop and Alternative Metal) The Fading Skiller Illidiance (Also considered Cyber Metal) Seecrees (Also considered Cyber Metal) Mors Principium EST D Creation Instant Suppression (Also considered Progressive Death Metal) Mercenary (Also considered Progressive Metal and Power Metal) Mutiny Within (Also considered Progressive Metal and Power Metal) Threat Signal (Also considered Groove Metal) Dark Age Sonic Syndicate (Before they sold out like ....s) Imperanon Mendacity Engel (Also considered Industrial Metal) Eventide Blood-Stained Incarnia Dethklok Enthrope (Also considered Atmospheric Death Metal) Destroy Destroy Destroy Amorphis Disease Illusion Allegaeon Soulfallen (Also considered Black Metal) myGRAIN Through Your Silence My Last Escape Fiend Before The Dawn (Also considered Gothic Metal) Engraved Disillusion Blind Stare SAREA Pandemonium (Also considered Melodic Black Metal) Frozen Eternity Perpetual Raintime (Also considered Power Metal and Progressive Metal) Dusks Embrace EVERLOST Mindscape/Escape the Day (Also considered Pop, Alternative Metal, Trance) Liam Espinosa (Also considered Pop and Alternative Metal) Sons of Aeon Hypocrisy Followbane The Elysian Fields Omnium Gatheron Arsis The Resistance Failed Perfection In Mourning (Also considered Progressive Death) Dreadful ColdTears The Dread Midnight Realm ROUTASIELU The Interbeing (Also considered Industrial Metal) Blackguard (New album is more on the Melodeath side, rather than the Folk Metal side) |

wow, i hadnt realised melodic DEATH metal had become such a vast genre? Most of the stuff i see listed here (other than the obvious choices) is black metal/prog metal/gothic stuff. its supposed to be death metal with melody, isnt it?
Well if thats the case, check out these bands, if you dig em, say it and I will post more. Edge of Sanity (pure traditional swedish awesomeness) Vehemence (best melodeath to come out of the US) Enforsaken (something between american and swedish sounding melodeath) Nile (kick ass egyptian stuff) Carcass (heartwork album is one of the pioneers of melodeath) |

I dont think anybody has mentioned these guys yet. Their older stuff is better, but I dig this song a lot.
EDIT: Looks like somebody did mention them. I agree with you also lol. My main setup: Ibanez uv7bk green dot, Engl fireball 60, genz benz g flex 2x12. |

back in the days, when i was in the melo period, there was a band called Ebony Tears. i liked it quite a lot.
can't remember the album title, nor do i know what happened to them, as i got tired of it. maybe someone here should give it a listen. there is probably some on youtube. edit: wiki, of course.... tortura insomniae is the album title. apparently they released 2 more, but i have not heard them. |

I'm happy to see Disillusion got mentioned already, so I'll jump right into the shameless selfpromotion.
My band Uncreation released our debut album "Burning Blood" in January 2011. It was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö and is currently available as digital download on iTunes and Amazon. I'll be honest, a lot of the stuff I've heard so far in this thread, I would be more inclined to classify as metalcore rather than melodeath.

This is an awesome thread...I must say that "Pandora" the app I have downloaded on my IPhone is one Hell of a useful tool when trying to find new and different artists similar to what I already listen to. I have heard the name of this band before but never took the time to listen to them...anyway listening to Pandora this band called "Impending Doom" popped up with the song "More than Conquerors". This song is brutal and nicely done.

This is about as "Mellow" Death as it gets...and I do mean that in a very good way.

Suidakra (A bit of folk influence)
For the harder style: Dissection (thrashy and black, still melodic, but dark) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26GyKRXVJD4 Note: The song above is not mellow, just showing a more aggressive side of melodeath |
