She's fine I suppose, Katherine Katz is probably my favorite female metal vocalist, probably because she sounds devastating yet still recognizably female.

Plus inhales never really did much for me anyways, to each his own.

When I found out a female fronted Arch Enemy, I couldn't listen anymore. Something about a woman doing that style of vocal is off putting to me.

Especially since they make me sound like a prepubescent boy...

I have nothing against female vocalists who are into metal. Its just that I haven`t come across anyone that can be more original/unique and have the dynamics of both a clean voice, and a balanced unclean vocals. Its either pig squeals or screaming sirens, and I don`t know how people can listen to that.

I would love to hear a female equivalent of Jens Kidman, lol. If anyone has/knows of a band/female vocalist like I`m talking about, please share.

Cerebral Bore is the worst.. my god. Can people be honest... can you even understand what that person is screaming? Or is it just the screaming in general that turns you on?

you heard Madder Mortem? not quite what you wanted, but the best female metal vocalist IMHO.

Female metal singers bore me to death so far... Angela Gossow and Otep are the only two so far who keep me interested and faith believing that women can do it.

Otep sounds like a female early Jonathan Davis / Corey Taylor imo.

Yup, although its not the kind of metal I listen to, I can certainly say that she has a proper balance of vocals, and I understand what she`s saying.

I'm not particularly into Cerebral Bore, though they're decent lads (I've never met Som yet, they played at my festival and she missed her flight...) but re: screaming/growling - understanding lyrics isn't always the point, no.

I quite like Cerebral Bore. The vocals are a bit weird... very goregrind-ish.

Black September have a female vocalist as well, she sounds a little more like Angela Gossow.

Not every does actually write words. But because if the lyrics are reprinted you can follow them, and they become part of the aesthetic.

EDIT: I don't personally have much time for vocals that are just indecipherable for the sake of it or just to make things "brutal" or whatever. I like things to sound like that because they're extremely angry, or miserable or whatever. Which makes most death metal boring for me, sadly. But if it's rage that's making it unclear, say in Pig Destroyer or Anaal Nathrakh, then you're still getting the meaning, if not the words, y'know?

i don't find it attractive to see a talented female singer scream, growl, squeel, etc. Then again, I've come to an age where if I can't understand what they are singing/saying then it's just noise (yes, I believe I have become my parents)

Annette Olzen of Nightwish is one of the better Metal singers
