The History Of Your Guitars Thread

I googled this and searched in ss.org and didn't see a thread on this yet. I know your current guitars are on your profile but not your past ones! Just tell us all your history of guitars from that Squire that we all owned to your current, and maybe some details about them.

Squire Bullet hardtail (first one, it was made of plywood and is currently my "learn to carve/replace hardware/pickup swap guitar)

LTD EC-400 (traded for a Schecter S-1 Elite, that poor guitar took a beating)

Guild DC-15 (iinherited from grandfather)

Schecter Damien 7 (first 7! Sold to purchase 8)

Agile Septor 828 (first 8!)

Schecter S-1 Elite

RG7321 (my beater that I take when I leave home for more than a few days)

My friends own my old guitars so they are gone but not lost!

I just talked about this in another thread of mine, but anyways...

Squier Strat - First guitar. Bought on my 22nd birthday. I'm a late bloomer, I know.

Schecter Damien-7 - First seven! First pickup swap, too. I did it myself and ....ed it up.

Schecter Blackjack ATX C-7 - Bought this year as a 23rd birthday present to myself. Also did a pickup swap that I didn't .... up, and then another swap that went perfectly as well.

If you're going to 'like' my posts, give me some rep instead.

started off playing as a bass player, but i eventually decided to switch to guitar. ill include basses too.

synsonics bass - cost me $30 at a pawn shop. first instrument. gave it to a friend to learn on.

Rogue 5 string something or other bass - terrible. one of the strap pegs actually fell out while i was playing live with a band i used to be in. tuning stability was nonexistent. ditched this piece of junk quickly

Silvertone strat clone - crap but got the job done. learned the basics on it. no longer own

Ibanez Gio Gax70 - kept as a beater for a while, no longer own, terrible tuning stability is what i remember most about this thing

Ibanez PR1660 - Ibby flying V, made in '86. these are pretty rare, but not valuable. I eventually sold it because of my hate for its trem, which at the time i was too dumb to set up properly. kind of regret it.

RG7321 - my current main axe. love it to pieces. I'll probably never sell it just because it has sentimental value as my first new guitar.

Jay Turser P bass clone - bought this in broken condition from a friend for $20. Just needed a new output jack, and now it works fine.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I'll probably be picking up an Ibby S570B soon.

Johnson strat copy my dad bought me for christmas

Epiphone Les Paul 100. The first guitar I bought myself. I eventually "modified" it beyond use.

Fender Standard Strat. Got it on my 16th birthday, the same day I saw my first freshly dead body.

Ibanez AE10 acoustic. Another gift from my dad

Ibanez RG370 bought in early 2007. Best impulse buy ever. I still play it all the time.

Schecter Omen 7. My first 7 and a life-changing purchase.

The Ridiculitar. 12 strings of tapping madness.

Schecter Damien Elite 8. 8 string. Nuff said.

Old western acoustic with no visible logo on it, when i was about 13.

Washburn Dime333, got this as my first electric, beginner mistake with the trem, but I loved it ever since.

Epiphone SG Goth, wanted something cool without a trem. was a beater for quite some years, recently sold it.

Ibanez RG-350, got this when I got into faster playing and thinner necks.

ESP Eclipse, me and my dad splittet 50-50 on it for my 18th birthday.

Ibanez RG-7621, first sevenstring. for now its under a makeover since it looked balls and got it dirt cheap.

Ibanez jem555,sort of beat up. traded this for a randall stack.

Ibanez Uv777, traded this for my Ibanez jem555 above. best deal so far in my life

Waiting for my Schecter Loomis to get here, but might as well mention it.

Fractal Axe FX Ultra
Ibanez RG-7621 w/ D-Activator
Ibanez UV777 w/ CL+LF
Schecter Jeff Loomis FR w/ 707's

Personally owned:
1985 bc rich nj ST3 (when i got it it had been gigged extensively by its original owner but plays like a dream)
2010 Bc rich Pro X Mockingbird (first guitar i played that just felt "right" out of the box without modification, subsequently 18v modded it. probably the only guitar that i am ever going to keep emgs in because while i don't hate the tone i find it very sterile even with the 18v mod.)
Bc Rich Trace Warbeast (POS, no longer owned, solidified my hate for low end bcrs and tuneomatics)
Not personally owned but are in my house:
telecaster (baseball neck does not even begin to describe it.)
2 Strats 1 MIM (me no likey v-trems, also bridge humbucker is ....ing bright.
2003 faded flying v with ebony fret board and moon inlays (plays nice, sounds nice, hate the TOM and input jack location)
2003 JEM7WH with the ebony fret board and edge pro (really nice guitar but i am not a fan of the edge pro.)

I still have all of mine:

1- Ibanez rs440 (first guitar got for my 14th birthday.....modded)

2- Ovation Celebrity (gifted to me from my uncle during my junior year of high school back in 94)

3- Jackson ps4 ( first guitar I bought.....modded)

4- Lucero nylon string (a cheapie to learn some Floyd on)

5- Prs Paul Allender (slightly modded with locking tuners...still looking to do pups)

6- Jackson jsrr (modded, but probably going to return it to stock and jump up a model number or two....I like the rr's but not the js series)

7- Schecter Omen 7 (modded)

8- Fender cd 160 e 12 string

9- Ltd M-207 (modded.... I bought this because the emgs were more than what they wanted for the guitar......local G.C. mix up...that worked in my favor)

most mods are pickup only, a couple of volume pots, and a couple have locking tuners.

IMO it does, as it is not about standard/sevenstring/ERG/bass specifically.

List is quite short for me:

1- Cheap classical guitar
2- '04 GFX by Groove Factory (starter kit)
3- '03 Schecter 006 Elite
4- Viola (can't remember the make/model)
5- '11 Schecter Hellraiser C-7

I still own them all. Also I have my Bari-Tele semi-custom that will soon be added to the list

"Solid-state - A component that has been specifically designed to make a guitar amplifier sound bad. Compared to tubes, these devices can have a very long lifespan, which guarantees that your amplifier will retain it's thin, lifeless, and buzzy sound for a long time to come."

Okay, this is going to be a long list, let me try to rack my brain so I don't forget anything. In chronological order of course.

1) Excel Acoustic
2) Harmony electric, missing the high e tuning key, covered in metallica and slayer stickers
3) Samick strat copy, when I got this the electronics didn't work, I eventually fixed that and gave it a poorly done van halen finish.
4) Epiphone goth SG special, bought this at media play, first real guitar with no problems, until it got dropped and broke...
5)Peavey Tracer (identical to the one Vai played in Crossroads) I ended up getting rid of it because I didn't know how to change strings on the locking trem, and I thought it was broken
6)Squier p-bass, traded an xbox to my cousin for it, then eventually removed the frets
7)Ibanez Gio Soundgear, traded the p-bass for it
8)Jay Turser 5 string, traded the Ibanez for it, my first extended range instrument
9)Parker P-40, my first NICE guitar. Sadly this guitar took a fall at a show and the headstock got smashed. This was before I knew how to repair stuff.
10)Fender MIM Jazz Bass, Bought this new and it gave me nothing but problems the whole time I owned it.
11) Ibanez SR400? Honey amber finish, traded the jazz bass for it.
12)LTD M-100FM, spent all of my money on this, and thus couldn't afford tickets to go see Damageplan, which happened to be Dime's last show ever. Glad I couldn't make it.
13)BC Rich bronze warlock, spend 10 bucks on this. enough said.
14)Carvin LP copy, got this at a garage sale years ago for FIVE DOLLARS.
15)Hondo LP copy, a friend of mine gave it to me to practice modifications on, eventually scalloped the entire fretboard.
16)Ibanez RG1570, first extremely nice guitar, I wish I still had it.
17)Applause acoustic, got this from a friend who didn't play guitar, piece of junk.
18)Toyata acoustic, surprisingly nice, even though it was a cheap guitar.
19)Ibanez RG7421XL, first seven string, got this from a friend who grew out of the "phase" for 200 bucks.
20)Ibanez LACS modded 7620, previously owned by Justin of Through The Eyes of The Dead, still one of my main guitars, recorded with it numerous times.
21)Ibanez RG550, this was a cosmic black model from the 90's with a replacement neck (rosewood board), if it had been original, I'd still have it.
22) Ibanez RG7620, got this while working at sam ash for like $150
23) Ibanez Xiphos 6, got this from sam ash after it had broken, repaired and refinished it
24) Ibanez xiphos 7, traded my XL for this, stupidly, and hated it
25) LTD H-207?, traded a cab for this, was never a huge fan of it
26) Ibanez RG7321, bought this as a cheap backup, I don't think I ever actually used it.
27) Ibanez RG270, got this for $70 while working at sam ash
28) Warmoth Jazz bass copy, a "friend" of mine "lost" my entire dvd collection, took this and called it even
29) SX Jazz bass 5 string, got this to get back into bass, still have it, great investment.
30) Washburn WM, bought this to try out the phenolic fretboard.
31) Ibanez S7420FMTT, got this on craiglist for a sick price, had blackouts installed.
32) Ibanez LACS RGD, had this built for me by Ibanez, then it was stolen by some dipshit.
33) Ibanez RGD2127z, customized by Ibanez with a Loch Ness Green finish, blackouts, and auto trim tuners.
34) Carvin DC727, awesome guitar, I just never played it
35) Ibanez RG1527, got this for the Carvin, never even set it up before I traded it again
36) Agile Septor 828, traded the 1527 for this, eventually had to get rid of it to pay bills

there are at least 15 more guitars that I am just drawing a blank on... I'll just edit my post if I remember any of them.
