I must confess that I'm not big on death metal in general. Usually my favorite death/tech flavoured metal are usually done by thrash bands...

...or Death (who are beyond the traditional death metal sound IMO).

well they were pretty nice guys. they flew up to seattle without any gear so they used another bands which caused them to have alot tech problems during their set. This shortened their set a little but they still got most of the classics in there. smoked a j with their new guitar player and steve flynn after the show too! they didnt play mother man though!!! i love that song

just as well add these guys, blatant rip off of WatchTower/Rush/Fates Warnign, but it worked for me back then

(they did change over the time - and their album "steps" is absolutely amazing and unique)

one of the best tracks from "Steps" (beside the 25 or so minute masterpiece "Tangerine Windows of Solace") ...

some (or more.. lol) might hate the singer... back then it was acceptable, as were the Watch Tower-ish breaks, Jarzombek-ish solos, Lifeson-ish chords..., Peart-ish lyrics... you get the point :-) , I don't know , it's still a really great song, it works.

(and play that same verse 1 octave lower and you have that funny "djent" stuff that kids are talking about :-) )

there sound changes a lot with ever album. this is my favorite song of theirs and the singer on this album is a lot easier to listen to.

the last couple albums they dropped were straight up melodic prog rock with heavy Rushisms.
