Why continue with that shit band.... Hell Yeah kind of shits on both metal and rockabilly. Taking people who were in such great bands and basically saying "Let's write some mediocre material, throw in some boobs on our vids, and ride out what's left of our name's and previous band's reputations."
Their last album was pretty shit, but I liked everything up to it, yes, even The New Game. I hope one day they will return to what they once were, but the reality is that there will never be an "LD 100" or the like. |

I was pretty sad about this but I haven't been into mudvayne lately so it didn't hit too hard.
and @thatguy87 Their old albums haven't gone anywhere. If a band puts out an album you don't like, don't listen to it. I'd rather have my music develop over time than put out the same stuff over and over. That might sound fantastic now, but every band that DOES THAT gets put down for putting out the same sounding albums... Generally I see people that either, 1. hate bands for changing or 2. hate them for staying the same. You can't win. Look at In Flames. Older fans seem to hate the new stuff, I think it's great, and for some reason the people who hate it (and love the old stuff) don't realize that their sound has never remained the same. They sound different on every single album they put out. I don't see a good way to end this rant so I'm done.... now. |

Mudvayne really helped me get into music. Thanks for reminding me about them, they haven't crossed my mind whatsoever in 3 years. Now I'm listening on youtube and reminiscing of my middle school days.

LD and The End were amazing albums but that band fell off really hard afterwards.

They gave me LD50 which is still one of the most refreshing "new" metal i heard ages back so I'm happy for that.
Didnt care for stuff that did afterwards, being on hiatus doesnt stop of from being able to listen to LD50. |

You know, I'm actually really excited that this happened. I've always liked the band, and even though they've put out material that's been a little different than what older fans have been used to, they were at least trying to go in a new direction; respect at least.
That being said, Ryan Martinie and Matt McDonough have always been a rhythm section for the ages that're massively understated, and I'd really like to see where they're going to go now. They're both really creative guys with a lot to say, and hopefully now they're going to be heard (instead of getting generally shit on in the mix).

If this was 2000 I'd be pretty bummed.
Though it's 2011 (almost 2012) so I really don't care.

Huh? Mudvayne's sound is something I've always defined as having an incredibly in your face bass tone and drumming. In fact the bass tone on many of their albums is something I'll likely forever be chasing in my own recording endeavors. |

I just hope when and if they do put out another record, it's the original prog kinda stuff they did with LD50 and EOATTC. EOATTC is one of my favorite records of all time, they really lost that exploration of music on the albums that followed.
Shit, I didn't even buy the last one. They had/have a HUGE influence on me musically and especially vocally. Some of their tunes have quite literally saved my life by coming in at the right time/place. I liked the first HellYeah record, it's fun, party kinda music. Definitely nothing like the depth of a Pantera or Mudvayne record though. Saw them at the Dean NAMM Jam last year and they put on a good show....Chad's vocals were pretty rough, but they generally are. One of my favorite vocalist of all time, but man, that guy has the worst vocal technique and just shreds his vocal chords to shit live. |

kinda weird that people don't like EOATTC. To me it's just like LD only more mature.

That sucks to hear, although I feel that after LD.50, although they released some awesome tracks, they were slipping.
A huge shame as they always struck a chord with me and had a very unique sound. Cant say I am a fan of Hell Yeah, just comes across as what they moved onto once chad's voice faded imo. |

HellNo are the best example of Redneck Metal. Ever since I saw the video for one of the new album's songs (I don't remember which one), I like to say they play in Drop-KFC. That is one of the worst guitar tones in history, seriously.
On a side note, somebody should steal all of Vinnie Paul's cowboy hats and replace them with bandannas like the old days, I think that's where his drumming abilities came from. "It's spelled Raymond Luxury-Yacht, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove" "He didn't talk to you about how Rockabilly is the Klezmer Music of the red states?" "NO TOUCHING" |

I LOVE LD50, and will listen to everything Mudvayne has done, but LD50 is by far my favorite.
And I like Hellyeah. I wish people would realize Hellyeah's first album was supposed to be something that Dimebag would have listened to...and I think they absolutely NAILED it. Goro923: What's wrong with rednecks? ![]() EDIT: Moral of the story: I like Mudvayne better, and am slightly bummed about this news. But they will never release another LD50, so it doesn't bother me THAT much.

That also blows me away. KILLER production that I think LD50 lacked. Chad seems like he was in the early stages of learning how to scream/sing on LD50 and there was a definite improvement on EOATTC. That bridge in "Skrying" when it builds up....Goddamn!! |
