Rush and Dream Theater seem a bit too 'prog', I guess, to be straight up rock. But Slave to the Grind certainly qualifies! It's a better album than 'Skid Row', but I like 'Skid Row' better. (Except for 'Can't Stand the Heartache. Jesus, what were they thinking?) Zeppelin 4, another great choice, but I actually prefer Physical Graffiti, and would easily put that in my top 10. Kashmir is one of my favorite songs period.

SenatoR, my man! *high five*

Twisted Sister seems an odd choice, but it's perfectly in keeping with the theme.

Stay Hungry is definitely the best TS album, though Love is for Suckers is right up there. SH was a lot darker, whereas LIFS just straight up rips.

If you're going as heavy as Slaves to the Grind I'm going to add a couple of Alice in Chains albums: Facelift and Dirt. Dirt has to be the definitive AIC album.

Instead of posting what everyone else has/will, I mixed it up a bit. I Stay Hungry.....

Out all night, time to get started
Savin' all week for a bang boom party
Dollar for a drink, dollar for my honey

Dirt's AIC's masterpiece, to be sure. Probably the best album of that entire era.

I'd say those are right on the cusp of rock/metal, but in my mind, rock.

Dirt is like maybe # 4 or 5 for me. I almost wanna say Prince - 'Purple Rain', since that's my favorite album of anything. And it is IS rock... but it's also funk, soul, and pop. So...

But yeah, Dirt. Holy shit, what a great album. And consider, Pearl Jam '10' is probably right up there with it. And maybe even Soundgarden 'Badmotorfinger'. 3 awesome rock albums, all from about the same time and place.

Badmotorfinger is fucking awesome. Soundgarden got a little boring for me after that.

Indeed. AIC are my favourite band of all the bands from that era.

I saw this great interview with the guys from Warrant once. They were asked where (for them) the end of the 80's metal movement was. Jani Lane said something to the tune of "Well, for ages, there was a huge Cherry Pie advertisment in the lobby of (their record label HQ). We came in one day, and it was changed to Alice in Chains/Dirt. I gave the album one listen and said 'well, that's it for us'."
