... is gone. And all I have to say is laaaame. Here's an explanation why:

I recall this happening to the Al DiMeola forum, as well. I dunno what I've missed, but it really is impossible to avoid negativity in any forum situation. Now, if you're a big enough DT fan to peruse their forums, you probably shouldn't be talking shit about DT, but at the same time, I'm disappointed with DT (or the moderators there) being so uptight as to close the forum.

Then again, I'm not sure what threads/posts sparked this move exactly, but it really is a pity; the DT forum was one of the few I frequented, it had thousands upon thousands of members, and it really is somewhat of a disappointment to many, I'm sure.

The main negativity I've seen there was one set of fans loving one album and hating another, and vice versa. Still, overall, there was a general appreciation for Dream Theater

Iced Earth took theirs down for the same reason, as did Savatage. I like Nevermore's approach - they ignore theirs, other than Warrel showing up occasionally...

Some of the musician's forums are just absurd. They either degenerate into pathetic hero worship (the Allan Holdsworth and Guthrie Govan boards), or endless flaming matches like the DT boards. The only one which was pretty good was the old Outworld board, and that was mainly because Rusty interjected when people began getting really stupid.

It doesn't take a great effort for people to discuss things maturely. We manage it pretty regularly on these boards...
