Paul Warren is just really nicePaul Warren is just really nice
I will just say that while I don't know what specifically happened there (even after perusing the mp.com thread), I can certainly understand the decision. DT fans are super loyal, but some can also be real serious problems. And as a mod, there are many times when I cannot disclose details of things that went on in emails and PMs etc. because of the further problems it would create. So I have had to live with lies being told about me and decisions I've made because it's not worth trying to prove my decisions to the general public. I've received personal threats and plenty of hate email. We even had to get the police involved once. All of that over a SILLY ONLINE FORUM ARGUMENT. The fact that some people take it so serious so that it affects you in real life is absurd and I cannot understand it. I really don't want to come across as complaining though - I'm just trying to give some perspective as somebody who deals with a busy forum. I used to visit the DT forums rarely and many times it was just unbelieveable.

And how did that forum turn out? That is a pit of zombies.

Hey, *I'm* a regular there, as you well know - we just very seldom talk about Nevermore...

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

+1

I just had a run in with an idiot over at JP's forum and Paul did his best to squash the argument. Sadly, there's only so much a mod can do and unless they're on 100% squashing trolls (and who wants to do that?) there's always going to be shitheads.

@ Paul:

Good to hear from you on this subject, knowing that you're pretty qualified on the topic

I see what you mean, and I also know very well how polarized and opinionated DT fans can be. And yet, at the same time, it has been this way for years without any major incident, and I don't think it was any different the day it was shut down.

What makes this interesting is that it seems to me that none of the other mods (rumborak, hefdaddy, etc.) had agreed to do this, and none of them agree with Mark's decision. Moreover, Mark had not been visiting the forum for some time before he decided to close it.

Anyway, good luck in sorting through the JP forums--they're now the only other forum I visit

Pity, that forum got a crazy amount of hits everyday.

Forunately, although I used to really frequent that forum, I nearly stopped when I found SS.ORG, which is hands-down the best forum on the net
Same here.

I remember when Itchy left and he pretty much gave all the mod powers to this one guy, SASR, I think. SASR ended up asking Itchy if he could add some more mods, and Itchy pretty much said he didn't care. It was only a matter of time before Itchy killed the forum, but there were some really really cool people over there.

God forbid that ever happen to this forum

Schecter C-7 Blackjack w/ '59(neck) and JB(bridge)
Sigma Acoustic (CGCEGC)
