This is one of my favorite Guthrie videos. His playing is always bad ass no matter what style he is playing.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It does have that brassy slide guitar sound to it.

the vigier site refers to it as "delta metal" without going into any further details about it. tis a repost, but a nice reminder to finish off the fretless I started months ago

Jazz influenced Prog//Experimental

Incoming - Oakland Axe Factory 9 string, multiscale, headless, single cut, piezo!

Did someone along the line not love you enough, because you were always failure?

If you make plans around custom guitar build ETA, you're gonna have a bad time.

In the Creative Guitar 1 book, Guthrie says even he doesn't know. He refers to it as some "top secret alloy"

from wiktionary -
delta metal (plural delta metals)
  1. An brass alloy consisting of copper (55%), zinc (41-43%) and iron (1-3%), with the balance consisting of various other metals. The proportions used make the material harder and suitable for valves and bearings.

Ahhh how I love Guthrie Govan!

Though i think they should have gotten Bumblefoot over for fretless stuff. I mean, Guthrie is absolutely amazing and godlike etc, but I think bumblefoot is better on fretless (i'm sure his perfect pitch helps too). Either way, both insane!

Ding Ding Ding! It's harder than brass and looks cool as hell. Provides sustain that you just can't get with a fretless made with a wood board.

I actually saw Guthrie in Philly last night and lent him a Surfreter to use on "See You Next Tuesday". Dude is out of his damn mind!!

I'm convinced Guthrie could make any guitar sound amazing, in just about any style.

Yeah that was a hell of a show! Northstar has had a great string of guitar players... just a couple weeks before that I got to see Freak Kitchen and Morglbl (Christophe Godin).

Ahh no i meant to do the video demonstration thing Then again, to have to have both Guthrie and Ron Jamming on fretlesses would be killer (maybe an idea for the future? a video perhaps? )

Discovered that fretless video a couple of weeks ago... it's so amazing.

I just don't know how the hell he knows where he is. I gather there are dots on the side of the neck but that wouldn't be enough for me

It sounds incredible though. If there are any fretless guitars with inlaid lines on the fretboard I AM SO THERE.
