Jani (Sonata Arctica) VS Syu (Galneryus)
Only those who accept
Will find that acceptance in return We have been trimmed down like hedges Told just to sit and wilt And spit at each other from a distance With constant resistance From you |

Well, I don't like either band, but if this was a competition, I think Jani won hands down, although Shu did some pretty damn cool lead as well. Some pretty nifty playing going on.

just like the comments on youtube said, Jani more speed, Syu more feel...
I do like Syu's tone better, and he throws some nice tapping stuff in there, but overall I give the edge to Jani |

Those guys rule serious shit, I like how Syu isn't constantly looking at his fretboard/hand like Jani does.
I love Sonata Arctica and they're on of my favourite bands, but I like Galneryus a lot better...those guys have their shit together...plus all their CDs sound awesome...whereas SA's don't. Galneryus' my last farewell is kind of "based on" Rusty Nail by X Japan...I love both songs very much :3 ... oh yeah watch the video. |

Personally I thought Jani had more feel than Shu - AND more speed. Shu had some cool leads (his first lead for session 2 was really cool), but I thought Jani had better, more memorable leads overall with more melody to them. Just personal taste, perhaps.
I don't really like Galneryus or Sonata Artica, but I prefer Sonata Artica... |

I can really only get into SA's "Songs of Silence" live cd, the others are just bleh but SoS rules something serious.

Jani owns.
Notice how he was actually using the stock pickups in the ibanez though? Edit:Fwiw, sonata arctica would be the most amazing power metal band ever if they had a real drummer. Jani wins at life, Syu just didn't really impress me that much, his leads didn't stick in my head, and they don't in general...
...Jani's, on the other hand, I can't get out of my freaking head ha and SA have a fantastic drummer ![]()
