Insomnium - Above The Weeping World

The album is amaaaaaaaaazing.. Insomnium themselves are a very talented and awesome band . Their heaviness is cutting and their guitar melodies simply sing. My favourite song so far from that album has got to be their intro song "The Gale". Its a short little song, but its an excellent introductary song and it simply rocks. For those who don't know who Insomnium are, and are a fan of melodic metal (eg. In Flames*) I strongly erge you to go check them out!

I recommend this song called The Elder. It was the first Insomnium song that I heard, and that's how my admiration for them started.

P.S. I admit, I personally don't really like their tone (sounds kinda poorly recorded) but their riffage more then makes up for it .

That's a cool song. I actually live really close to where the video was filmed.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake

I saw them live twice in the space of a few weeks last month (supporting Zyklon and Satyricon), didn't know who they were though. I've since got Above the weeping world, and it's a pretty good album I'd say. The singer is a lot better on the album than he is live (the performance felt a bit lacking), but their live show was pretty kickass overall

Also, +1 on the guitar tone. It's not so bad when the whole band is playing, but when it's buy itself it just sounds terrible to my ears. I think they were both using Framus amps of some kind live (though maybe one ENGL at the Zyklon gig, it may have been loaned from one of the other bands for some reason).

I think their best work is in their album "Since The Day it All Came Down". However, maybe Above the Weeping World will grow on me
