most djent doesn't have too ncuh screaming and ive heard nothing with growls or anythin heavy... in fact that's the reason i can't get into the genre, because all the singing sounds emo or numetal, and the harsh vocals sound like 14 y/os... im sure someone will do something decent with the music eventually

I think this is an ignorant post, or at least uninformed. Though I do agree with Djent + clean vocals sounding too much like nu-metal.

Have you heard of Meshuggah? It might be time for you to check them out.

Its got some screams here and there but most of it is clean.
That sounds like one of the most awesome combinations I've ever heard.

Yeah, I'm not particularly fond of the singing or screaming styles found in most djenty stuff...get some real growls in instead of the stupid hardcore screaming. And some clean singing with power. Just my 14 cents (I get an extra cent for each fret I have past 24. Truth.)

I'd love to hear a good djent band featuring a growler like Mikael Stanne and a singer like Andreas Sydow. Guys with super aggressive voices. That would make my day.

I honestly think that clean vocals work well... I really like what Tesseract do, because it means you can do a lot of melodic/chordal stuff over the rest of the instruments, which are grooving away... The vocals can then also emulate that ambient kind of stuff which djent is associated with.

I don't mind the growling either... I think proper growls, i.e. Dying Fetus or Suffocation, would be out of place. They are kind of too much. And seeing as all this music has roots closest to prog metal and metalcore, the hardcore screaming/cleaner stuff seems to go quite well.

Plus I just like vocal layering :P

I think more people should listen to Disarmonia Mundi and realize all three (clean, hardcore, death) styles kick ....ing ass when done properly.

TESSERACT!

The intro bit has some screaming but the rest of it is just awesome vocals. Add trees for instant happiness

Has anyone ever heard of a female fronted band to adopt the djent style?

I'm thinking of EPICA for example.

And I really would love to hear an alternative rock band like Muse using this style.

True, but it's not really the sort of album for listening to individual tracks, since it's more like one long epic song split up for convenience.

There's always the instrumental medley of parts of the album however :
