If you're at all a fan of progressive rock, you have to check out the Follins. Not many game tunes utilize odd time signatures and tempo changes. It's almost like Rush in VG form.

There's a lot of their stuff out there, and if the Follins are not in AT LEAST your top 10, you are WRONG.
I posted the Plok! intro a few pages ago. Otherwise, yep, agreed.

And needs more Solstice 1-2.

My favorite of the Follins sans Plok!

EDIT: Admittedly I focused more on Tim than Geoff on my first post... and also funny enough, Tim actually hated computer games.

Especially this first one - a particuarly surreal but awesome moment when this shows up:

Frank Klepacki was pretty innovative in early days, working with 8 bit sound and the primitive formative years of multi media gaming industry. But it's clear, the Japanese' tendency towards the obsessive has been a driving force in music and gaming. It's been a great outlet for many talented composers, as highlighted by this thread and all the unforgettable music here.

There was a concert called "Games in Concert" which had many classics, including Zelda and the Tetris them. Here is something sevenstring.org might enjoy.

GSoundtracks - Interview with composer Frank Klepacki

The Black Mages

Games music composers formed a live rock band to perform their compositions, which you may also enjoy.

E.S. Posthumus

A pair of German brothers have changed the sound of TV, Cinema and advertising with their unique brand of cinematic orchestral metal. You will be familiar with their music, even if you're unfamiliar with the name.

Dimmu Borgir

Hmm... Coincidence?

The Mass Effect series's soundtrack has been ridiculously awesome all the way through in my opinion. It's got a lot more in common with film scores than videogame music, I feel.

No contest for me. Nobuo Uematsu all the way.

Honourable mention to Jack Wall for ME1+2 (and pieces that appear in 3) and the guys who do all the Shadow Hearts compositions, especially Covenant. Such underrated games.

Been on a massive Ko Otani lately. Mentioned a few times already but his rock sensibilities aren't appreciated well enough. A shame because his soundtrack to Sengoku Basara 3 certainly delivers.

Don´t remember the names but I think it was two composers who did the Shenmue soundtrack. What´s so impressive about it, is how many songs were used in both games. Every builing, every quarter, every period of the game had unique and memorable music. Here are some of the "big" themes.

Also, ....ing THIS:

My favorite game and music of all time.
