How is the mix on this tune?

hi, here is a cover of a Meshuggah tune. before jumping in on any projects, I decided it would be wise to hone my skills by covering tunes...

can anyone point out to me what is missing and what is too loud? it's my first time trying to mix... I think i'm messing it up badly

yeah that's me

it wasn't hard at all for me. maybe a few tries. the hardest part was memorizing the sequence and how many times I repeat something before returning to the beginning of the riff.

just as an aside, my bro lives in Kona, but flew out of Hilo this morning on his way to Thailand for 2 months

As far as I'm concerned, there can never bee too much bass (which is why I use an 85 on my 7)

too much bass for what? the guitar? or do you mean the bass is too loud?

i know a few people from the big island. i wouldn't want to live there though. kinda expensive and very rural

no not necessarily too much bass guitar, I think just too much bass overall, or the bass frequencies are too loud in the mix, it seems like the bass will hide too much of the mids and highs

one of the reasons my bro left was cause he said there weren't enough women around

I think the drums sound a little too pushed back, they need to *pop* more, but thats just my two cents. The guitar sounds pretty good, that is some tough playing!
