New Album: The Famine - Architects of Guilt is out (Death Metal/Grindcore)

Hey ss.org ,

The Famine's latest album came out last week, Architects of Guilt. Jason Suecoff reamped/mixed it (Black Dahlia Murder, All That Remains, Mutiny Within, Whitechapel, etc...). For the lovers of Death Metal/Grindcore.

You can stream 4 of the new ones from their myspace:
THE FAMINE | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos

Enjoy

PS - If you like the solo tone, they used my POD X3 and I have my patch available for dl here:

I checked it out on youtube a little bit yesterday, and it sounded pretty coo. Am going to give it a proper listen when I'm done with work today.

You know, I've never listened to your band before.... but I'm glad I did just now. Really diggin' the intro for "The New Hell". Same goes for "Ad Mortem".

..... Every song has some killer riffs. "The South Will Rise" has some nice grooves. Come play Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'll pick up some shit.

Thanks Josh . I'm basically their live guy (2nd guitar), Andy (other guitarist) does 95% of all the riff writting. Ad Mortem's a challenging song to play. My 2 favs are "A Fragile Peace" & "Turner Classic Diaries". Check them out (if you haven't already heard Fragile Peace).

PS - check out their old EP too. It's got their best solos IMO.

I hope that didn't seem offensive when I said I never listened to the band. I meant I rarely click myspace links in someone's signature.

I listened to every song on the myspace. It sucks you're just the live guy. I take it you're at least there for practices and such? Are any of the riffs yours? Does Andy do all the recording?

It's still cool you're at least there for gigging. Better than just standing at their shows.

Oh, absolutely none taken . I'm the same way, for the most part.

Well, yes & no to it sucking that I'm just "live". If they have a practice before a show, ya, I'm there... otherwise I just drill the songs at the house to prepare. And yes, they're all tracked by Andy.

I tracked the arpeggio solo on Ad Mortem (3:02-3:07) in the studio as a last minute rush to finish the album. I got the gig b/c I helped them produce a demo (at the house) so their vocalist could write his parts before they went to the studio & I learned the stuff they tracked. So Andy asked me (after AoG was written) if I wanted in. Since I can't tour (responsabilites), we settled with me jumping up there for local/regional shows.

Ya, so like you said, it's fun & flattering to at least get up there and play with an established band and good quality of musicians. I grew up listening to and learning from their old band Embodyment. That's the foundation of my technique, so this was a full circle moment.

That rules, man.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say your responsibilities are either a) school, b) job, c) a child, or d) a mixture of all three. Assuming it's a child (or children, you stud), I'm proud of ya'. At least you don't abandon it to tour.

Nevertheless, the band rules.

Random question... do you have the sample from "Killing for Sport"? I know where it's from, but I would love to have that sample on hand.

I sure don't bro. Sorry.

Where is it from BTW? Raven and the Reaping was before I started playing w/ them.

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE

Sorry for the necro-bump

But I was listening both of the Famine albums recently, and I was curious if you knew what kind of rig was used for the guitars on the two albums

lulz...Sure do.

The Raven and the Reaping
AMPS - Blended Uberschall & 5150, not sure on the cab(s)

GUITAR - Bell Custom AG7 with 707s for everything.

The Architects of Guilt
AMPS - I think Suecoff re-amped all rhythms with a sweet 5150, but not sure. Also not sure of the cab. We used my POD X3 for all solos. The lead patch is included in this bundle

GUITARS - Bell Custom AG7 with 707s for Rhythms and 90% of solos. I tracked part of the Ad Mortem solo with my Ibanez s7321 with SD Blackouts.

If there's anything else used, I wasn't informed. Hope this helps

PS - I'm actually going to be doing a tone "Match EQ" for tRatR album soon with my AxeFX II. So I'll be hosting that eventually.
