I write a lot of very chaotic music with lots of half-steps and flatted fifths, but the leads I write over top of it are melodic and fit very well. Sure, I use discordance and a lot of the same notes being played by the rhythm guitar, but it's still melodic and fits perfectly. Like Ken just said, you can be melodic, brutal, and chaotic at the same time. |
