Tool, Anyone?

These were posted on their site on Saturday... Pretty cool, but nothing new or exciting. Carey's kit looks nice.

All Tool fans ought to know that patience is virtue....

But with that said, 5-6 years have past and they are due for another album.

Being a massive Tool fan, I know exactly how you feel. And think of the Tool fans that went through great lengths to buy a Digitech Bass Whammy just to play Disposition, and how much they're waiting.

They are touring though so, maybe.

I know for a fact that Justin splits his signal to 3 paths. His Wal Basses go through a pedal board full of all sorts of stuff then splits into 2 GK Amps, one kept clean and one slightly driven IIRC with a Pro Rat Cat Dist. He has passed this trick to Troy Saunders right after Tool and Mastodon toured together. At the same time Justin's bass also has a DI jack that goes through a Demeter preamp and straight to the mixing desk.

That and his tone has a lot of upper mids dialed in.

I absolutely love Tool. They take an approach to their style of music that really captures the emotion and power, but without the stereotypical screaming and mindless shred.
And I agree, it's been too long to wait for an album.

Could be worse, I'm a Primus fan and they haven't released an album since 1999.

I hear Tool are writing another album though, they're certainly gearing up for something. I suspect we'll get something late 2011/early 2012.

I wouldn't hold my breath. The supposed Tool Live DVD has been speculated since the release of Lateralus.

And yes, I've been waiting for something new from Primus since Antipop as well. It may happen though, Chinese Democracy was released after all.

I remember hearing that they've tried recording shows before, but when the band looked at the footage they felt it hasn't done enough justice to a live show. Personally, I think it'd be impossible to recreate the experience of a Tool show in the living room, but nonetheless I want a goddamn live DVD
