I love this album!
I have the original release with the crazy organ parts, and I love it, fantastic album.
Also ordered one of Mats/Morgan's CD's (on air with guests I think its called) and theyre fucking awesome! If you like Zappa you have to check their stuff out, its like Jazz on crack!

Basically, the original album had a different mix and a heap of screaming church organs. v3.33 removed the organs and has a more "metal" mix, as well as including two bonus tracks, one called "Ooh Baby Baby" from a Mats/Morgan album and one called "Missing Time" which features Mats/Morgan as well as Mattias Eklundh, but I have no idea where they took the track from, I'm sure it's from another release though.

And yeah, check out Mats/Morgan. They're a (blind) keyboard/drummer duo who play on Fredrik's album, played with Zappa when theyw ere in their teens and are pretty fucking stellar. I have the album Trends And Other Diseases and will follow up with a few more shortly. If anyone recalls the video of Fredrik riffing with a random drummer, that drummer is Mats, and if you look for Drumkit From Hell vids on youtube you'll see Mats and Morgan, and most probably cry.

I wish Meshuggah would come to my country already, it's been long enough.

I absolutely love this album. I bought the v.1 release from Morgan's web site also. But I've heard the v.3.33, and I have to say that I slightly prefer that mix. There was a rumor that v.3.33 was going to be rereleased, but nothing's happened yet.

I much prefer SNW to any Meshuggah I've heard--mostly because of the vocals.

This album is so awesome. I wish there was like a tab book for it somewhere. I'd love to learn some of that stuff.

Nik will become famous soon enough
Hey guys, I was on Thorendal's myspace listening to Sol Niger Within samples, and some of the samples pissed me off, but there is this one sample with a crazy shred solo over a sick polymetric riff... I'm just wondering, what portion of the album is ambient crap/screaming and what portion is more instrumental/jazz-type of playing?

I'm just deciding if this album will cater to my tastes because some samples sound like the greatest thing I've ever heard, and some things sound like the worst

Just buy it, there's a lot of funny vocals and stuff, but it makes sense when you hear the whole thing and read the mind-fuck lyrics/concept.

Oh and don't you get a couple of extra tracks on the V. 3.33 version, including the awesome Missing Time.

My homeslice Timdog tabbed out a lot of Sol Niger here. Look towards the bottom.

It pretty evenly distributed. Im seems like he uses the "weird" parts as transtitions only - the album is worth paying money for. The mp3s on the myspace.com site arent chosen by Frerik either. Theyre actually picked out by meshuggah forum regular, whos is a bigger fan of meshuggah's drummer Tomas than Fredrik. Anyway, go buy. Now. Good albumness.

The weirdness is what I like most about SNW. It doesn't sound like anything else I've ever heard. Meshuggah seems very monochromatic and kind of dull, by comparison.

The one you can buy at Morgan Agren site is not the v3.33.
V3.33 has a better mix and the tracklisting is a little bit different... and it's very hard to find !

This album LIVES in the CD player of my car, sure it may comes out every once in a while if someone brings another cd, or I get one as a gift and I'm checking it out, but pretty it lives there. I've listened to it hundreds of times and it never gets old. I actually had 2 copies of this, as I bought a second one (for 5$ btw...at some mom and pop shop) after I thought I lost the first one.

This album is the solar system put to metal, the Flex-able of the new Millenium, I can't speak highly enough about it.

Yes, this album HAS to be listened to in its entirety, or at least in huge sections (like say from track 13 to track 18), I can't see how samples can do it justice, the track are just too interrelated....

Which now that I think about it, is the Grand Theme of the album, the interconnectedness of all things.
