Pauls a cool guy, and his picking is just plain ridiculous. But this really bored me. I know he's not the most harmonically interesting guy out there but even given that, it was uninspiring.

That bit from 1:20 to 1:51 is just amazing. Paul is a focking legend, it's good to hear some new stuff from him.
I wonder what that "Borrowed Andy Timmons" lick caption is all about, it's not like Paul is going to have to go and look through a lesser player's parts bin for a lick is he? think of it this way. you could have a room full of worthless douchebag darrel signature deans - jymellis |

As much as I love Paul Gilbert and his playing and his music I must say that his solo CD's the last years, those with no vocals at all, haven't been up to par with the instrumental songs he released with Racer X. Some of the songs are decent but they're just not as good as "Scarified", "Viking Kong", "King Of Monsters" etc. So I can't say I'm stoked for this album. I just wish he got Racer X back together and hopefully the magic would come back.

I can see where Daggorath is coming from with that statement.
I feel as if I've heard it before from Gilbert. hmm.. too bad :P There is ofc no reason for telling how ridiculous he is as a guitar player

Ooh so gonna get this one, though I wish he did some vocals again, not to say his vocals are as stunning as his fretwizardy but I always enjoyed his singing.

Wow, I didn't think his new effort would be anything new to me, but this was another piece of awesome from him, such a cool and talented guy.

I used to be the biggest Paul Gilbert fan, but this was boring as hell.
The only thing I dig from him in the past 10 years is his Acoustic album.. Stop the wanking and start writing real songs again. |

Paul's instrumental songs are awesome, it's not your typical shred wankery. It still contains his charming melodies, almost beatle-esque but still fantastic!

I'm not mad about instrumental stuff... there's no substitute for a dirty riff, clever lyrics and a rousing chorus. i think anyway.
I'm not saying that Paul isnt talented though! just not my cup of tea

Always been a fan of Pablo - it's the same territory to a large extent but I love his style and I can forgive him some reptition
While raping a bear in Yellowstone and snorting coke out of a freshly-dead baby's skull, I finally felt that I had found my calling and built a time machine out of Iraqi WMDs and LOTS OF HEMP WHOA. Using this time machine I went back in time and shot JFK from outer ....ing space. I love Paul's albums, but his vocal albums are always my go-to's because I love his humour. That being said, the new tunes that Mr. Big recorded for the reunion tour are awesome. I hope they can hold it together and record a new album in the near future.

Just received my copy this week, there are certainly some interesting tracks on there. Sounds like he was having fun, quite some effects but done very tasty imo. Fav track right now:

This album makes me think Paul Gilbert wishes Racer X was still writing new material.
