Of his later albums, I recommend "Kiss My Axe," which is a blend of his fiery distorted guitar and more mellow jazzier stuff. Great albums all. He was in the jazz-fusion band Return to Forever in the mid '70s before he went solo, and I've always loved "Romantic Warrior", his last album with RTF, even though it's not as guitar-centric as his solo albums. His unison playing with Chick Corea on that album is mind-boggling. |

Don't forget "Electric Rendezvous" I actually prefer his newer stuff though, which most Al Di fans hate. Like "Infinite Desire", I love the ethnic-techno vibe in that album. Oh, and it has a version of "Race With the Devil..." performed with Steve Vai doing a guest appearance. ---------------------- Visit my band, 'Emulsifier.' Unless you suck. Also, get Friday Night In San Francisco, the one he did with Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin, as that's just mindblowing. Try his recordings with Return to Forever too. Scenario is a good album, although it mainly focuses on acoustic guitar and guitar synth, Quote:

BTW, he's got a new album coming out in Sept. called "Consequence of Chaos" that will feature him on solidbody electric for the first time in a long time. His web site has some samples up.

But yeah, I forgot about Friday Night, that album is amazing. And I don't care what you guys say about "Electric Rendezvous", songs like Egyptian Danza and (I think it was) the title track are amazing. Haven't listened to that one in a while.
