Heh, that's awesome.

I'd imagine what they mean is it's inclusive of five octaves, not that it ascends five whole octaves. You know, the root, second octave, third octave, 4th, and 5th (for a total of 4 up), not that he starts on the root and then climbs 5 octaves, finishing on a note 6 octaves over the root.
