Shipping guitars (question)

When you guys sell a guitar, how do you ship it? Every time I've shipped a guitar w/o a case via UPS or FEDEX, they charge around $105 for shipping. I know there's got to be a cheaper alternative.

Does shipping in a guitar case cut down on the cost? How about using USPS? Any ideas?

$105!! Holy crap!
Are you packing it? I rarely have to pay more than $50, at the most. With or without a case.

Dude, last time I shipped my guitar, it cost me like $36. UPS.

Cost me $22 last time. I did all the packing, taping, and everything. This was thru UPS.

it was like $45 plus the box which was like another $60. What boxes do you guys use?

You mean another $15 i hope! as in $60 total?

I just use whatever's handy. I used a box that a table came in once.

You can usually get boxes for free.

Damn!!! That's a LOT of money for a CARDBOARD BOX

I went to my local GC and asked if they had a cardboard guitar box, and they handed me a durable cardboard box from a Fender American strat.
