Sell/Find me a a VHT Pittbull UL

Don't want to go over $2k - and would rather try to dig one up for about $1600-$1800

EQ or no EQ is fine - actually I'd rather have one without the EQ. Would rather have one that has newerish tubes (so I don't have to fork up another $100-$150 to retube) and a footswitch.

I have a Pball I could trade, but have the $ to buy it outright. Once I find one the Pball is for sale, so if you're interested send me a PM and I'll put you in line to buy

That is all

Ramen!

Get the EQ. EQ is switchable in/out, and is really quite cool as long as you use it to slightly shape a good sound rather than to define one. Also good for adding some extra meat on leads

But man, good choice on the UL!

I have a Boss 7 band EQ pedal if need be for solos or whatnot. I've also heard the ones sans EQ are a touch more aggressive, but i'm sure that is a lie.

I played a CL up at GC and it blew my mind. I just want a nice clean channel and two OD channels - so the UL it is .

You were right...damn you! lol

I had a non eq UL for a short time. Also I have played and heard a couple eq models. Even with the EQ not engaged, the newer one with the eq was more dynamic F'kin amazing. The one without I thought was a pretty good amp but a little dark sounding. That being said, it had older EL34's and preamp tubes and each EQ model had KT88's and new preamp tubes. The CL at guitar center I played sounded better than the older UL.. PM'd for PB list...

If one had EL34s and the other had KT 88s that thats not even a fair comparison and pretty much explains the difference you experienced. KT88s have more dynamic range/headroom (50w vs. ~25w, EL's break up sooner). VHT will even tell you, the UL was meant to paired with KT88s. It's just not the same without them.
