BareKnuckle Nailbomb 7 review

guitar it went into: Carvin DC727C
all mahogany with a maple quilt/maple board/SSfrets.

I've had this for a while now so I'll share my thoughts on it.

First off I've got to say Tim was really great to work with, I got in touch with
him and told him, I've got a bright ass Carvin that needs warming up, but I
also need a versatile bridge pickup that will let me go from Arch
Enemy/Nevermore type of stuff to Planet X, Greg Howe, Ygnwie, Vinnie
Moore, even Van Halen, Ratt etc.
Basically I need a versatile shred pickup that will still sound good
playing lead or rhythm. I wanted to be able to basically use this guitar
as my new "main go-to" guitar.
I also let him know what amp I'd be using this thru so he'd know how to match it up. (JSX and 5150).

It took me a while to dial in the height of this pickup, but once I did I found
a very versatile, great sounding bridge pickup.
It's got tons of lower mids to it so when playing lead it really sings.
This pickup has "character". My Carvin doesn't sound like any of my other
guitars. The note clarity is great with this pickup and it sounds good with
different levels of gain and responds well to boosting or cutting mids way up
or way down.
This pickup also cleans up nicely as it's not all that "hot" a pickup.
Tapped I can get a good "strat" type of tone out of it.
The only thing that is "lacking" is that it's not quite as "tight" as I would like it
to be with the low B string.
An easy way to describe it is I get more of a "This Godless Endeavor" type of
tone out of this guitar than an "Enemies of Reality" or "Dead Heart" tone.
It's not buzzy or fuzzy it's just "spongier", which is the attribute that makes
it versatile. I can live with that.

Playing Arch Enemy riffs thru the Ultra channel on my JSX sounds right on,
Playing stuff like "Crushing Day or Satch Boogie" thru the Crunch channel
sound dead on as well (to give you an idea tonally of what I'm getting here).
I'd love to hear this thru a Mark IV or a Dual Recto and see it it sounds any "tighter".

I highly recommend this pickup for a mahagony bodied guitar that needs to be versatile.
It's definitely got it's own voice and it's a good one.
For a straight out metal machine I would look at either a Miracle man or a
WarPig as those both seem to be geared more towards a tighter more "metal"
type of output.

The only down side to these pickups is the cost. When I got mine they ran
me $150.00 a piece. With the exchange rates today it may be even more

Good review

Why don't you slap a set of Nailbombs in your Loomis and tell me if it's worth it.

I've got a 7620 on it's way and if I like it I am going to try a Miracle/ColdSweat combo in that one.
I'm not going to mod the Loomis.

Nice review. The Nailbomb is a fantastic pickup. And a great value in Europe, not much more expensive than mass produced pickups.

Excellent review. I might look into that company when I can route my axe for a neck pup. I love the my Lundgren M7 bridge for all the tight metal and it sounds real good clean, I just want a decent warm neck pup that's not as hot. Your review does sound similar to the M7, but the M7 is really hot and extremely tight, plus it ran me up $210 so don't think your pup was too expensive!

My new guitar is coming with a set of Nailbombs in, so it's nice to read another positive review!

Nice review. The price wasn't so bad either. Doubt they're still that inexpensive. If they were $150ish i'd possibly own a cold sweat for the neck.
