Hi everyone, I've been having quite the dilemma with my amp lately. I have had my Mesa Boogie Dual Recto for about a year now, and have been unhappy with the tone. The Rythm tone is great, but the lead tones sound empty and floppy. I've tried everything to fix it, got a reverb pedal to add dimension, tried delay pedals etc. I've also messed around with the tube settings, switching it from silicon diodes to vacuum tubes, and have read the manual multiple times, so i know how each knob effects eachother. So my solution is selling my mesa head, keeping the cab and buying a line 6 spider ii head, since i've played on my friends amp and i fell in love with the tone, and the effects. It's the perfect tone that i've been wanting for a long time and haven't been able to get with my dual recto. Then i was thinking of also looking at the Vetta II's once i get enough money to afford one. So my question is do you think this is a good idea? If not do you have any other suggestions? Thanks

I'm a Line 6 guy and I dislike Mesa Rectos and I wouldn't even get rid of a broken Mesa Recto for a Line 6 Spider.

I don't think the guy's an idiot just because Mesa amps don't work for him.

I hate Mesa amps. I've tried them and I can never get the sound I want out of them.

He doesn't want to trade. He's thinking of selling the Mesa in order the buy the Line6. Is it so wrong to get something that will make him happy?

Yes, and the police tell me so everytime they catch me.

I've never personally played a Mesa but I kind of find it like trading in a Mercedes Benz 500SL for a Chevette. Though with gas prices you'd be further ahead....
