![]() | New Carvin amp arrived... I ordered a new amp setup for my POD XT Live. It got here last week and I am amazed. First off, I downloaded some pretty good patches as well as the new XT update from Customtone.com. Said patches sounded really good through my studio monitors and I was struggling with the current XTL/guitar amp setup anyways(sounded like crap). I switch from amp to direct, tweaked the tones a little bit and it sounded amazing. I then ordered a Carvin DCM 150 poweramp and one of the 1540 PA speakers knowing I could always order a 2nd one in the future. With a little tweaking I must say I am very impressed with the new setup. The bass is low and punchy, it is plenty loud, and it is amazingly clear. The full range, flat response gear really does well in re-creating the studio tones for live use. I could not ask for anything more considering I am not a professional musician and guitaring is more a hobby than anything else for me at this point. The dudes at Carvin even threw in an extra 25 ft instrument cable! I may have to tweak it a little more once my 7 gets here as it will be a completely different animal than my current 6 string (alder body, ebony fretboard, carvin pickups, seventh string vs. mahagony body, maple neck, dimebucker/59 bridge) but I am excited! After Simon bites that Skeleton’s face in half, he is going to rape that hydra. That’s how Simon rolls.. |

![]() ![]() | You know, I was thinking of doing almost the exact same thing, except I was going to get one of their powered PA speakers for easier setup and portability. I may still do it one of these days when I have more money and a need to play out. Glad to hear it worked for you, that gives me confidence that it'll work if I ever do it! |

As far as the different guitars, I'd say you should try to find some settings and tweak them using the other one and try to find settings which both sound good with and yet different...I mean that's kind of obvious but most people I know just set it up with their main axe and it sounds like ass with their others. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is slightly off topic but has anyone here tried the Pod (or any modeller for that matter) through that new Bose System? The last show I played I was lucky enough to try my friends, and I don't remember disliking it much. It was really eerie to walk around and get the same tone. Anybody else have any experience with it. |

I'm not sure I like the idea, mainly because I'm just too damn stuck in the old ways (I know, this from a Line6 user ). I dunno what it is, I just don't think those Bose things can give out the same power as standing in front of a couple 4x12s. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Bose speakers are small, lightweight, easy to carry, and shitty. I had a coworker who was really pushing them on me, so I tested them out and well, hmm, I just didn't like the bottom end on them at all, so I thought, try them with woofers. It sucked a lot of power, but I still wasn't at all happy with the sound. So he put them up for sale, and asked $2000 for them, no sale. Put them up again at $1800...no sale...etc. Still for sale. ![]() |
