![]() ![]() ![]() | Jake's current incarnation Current rack setup is as follows: Samson PowerBrite Power Conditioner. I like the fluorescent light ![]() Rocktron Intellifex Guitar gets plugged in here. I use this as a preamp input switch. From there the signal is routed to my 2 preamps. Currently not using any other features from this unit. Rocktron Chameleon My main preamp and tones until I get my Mesa fully integrated. The Chameleon totally kicks ass for live or direct recording. From shimmery sparkle to balls to the wall metal, you can't beat it. Mesa/Boogie MkIII The real deal. Genuine "mark series" tone. I've played a MkIIC+ and I will say that this MkIII is pretty damn close to that sound. 4 amp channels (the 4th one just stacks the gain of the crunch channel on top of the lead channel, but it gives it a nice high gain saturated kind of sound). The distortions are amazing, but the clean channel is more Fender Twin as opposed to JC-120 (I like sparkly cleans). I guess I'm glad I have both at my disposal now! Rockman Octopus Used to switch the amp channels on the Mesa via midi. No rocket science here. T.C. Electronics G-Major Both preamps are run into the L/R inputs of the G-Major. I use the G-Major for all effects and gating. This thing is an absolutely AMAZING processor. The sound quality is absolutely astounding. The effects are top notch for just about any price range. I've always been a chorus/delay freak, and well, this is the perfect processor for me. Bang for buck, one of the best buys out there IMO. Mesa/Boogie MkIII (power section) My signal goes back to my Mesa for power. "85" watts mono Simul-Class (2 6L6s, 2 EL34s) The only thing missing now is a small line mixer to perfectly mix both signals from the T.C. to the Mesa. Probably in the next week or two ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah yeah, I need a real camera ![]() |

For a basic processor, it's great. The only problem with it is that it's not all that powerful being older. For instance any of the effects are great on their own, especially the reverb. But once you go with configurations with more effects, the less flexibility you get within. For instance, delay by itself you get 1500ms, but only 416ms if you add chorus and reverb. Same goes for reverb parameters and chorus. The reverb has all kinds of settings by itself, but it whittles down when you add other effects. The Chorus is 8 voice alone, 4 voice with other effects. But it's solid as a rock, doesn't suck your tone, and it IS a programmable HUSH as well. The chorus wasn't as lush as I would've liked, but it was very very good. I'm just a fussy bastard ![]() Scope out eBay, you can find these pretty cheap. I only paid 150 bucks for mine back in '99. For that price, you can't go wrong. The LTD is no different in processing power than the old blackface, and the online just has more presets if I remember right. The XL came with compressor and 4 band eq, but good luck finding one of those! There IS always the Xpression as well then, but for that price range, my money is in the G-Major. Quote:

I am extremely happy with my rig. It appears a lot simpler than most, but the Road King and G Major give me a virtually unlimited array of sounds.
