My new Vox Valvetronix head

I've been looking for a new amp to replace the Valveking combo I bought a month or so ago and after hearing Tommi Inkila's awesome AD15VT clips, I decided to go try the amp out. I played the AD100VT combo @ guitar center w/ an S520EX and it sounded great, very versatile, so I bought the AD100VT head........... off ebay for $320 shipped, screw guitar center
I also got an Ibanez Tbefore12 cabinet off the bay for $210 shipped, so I finally got me a halfstack! Oddly enough, $530 is also the exact amount I paid for the Peavey Valveking combo.

I wasnt satisfied with the tone of the peavey, plus I wanted something more versatile in a halfstack instead of a combo. The Vox + Ibanez cab was the best bang for the buck I could find. This amp can do just about anything. It has 11 effects + 11 amp models mated to a 12ax7 tube in the power amp section. It has a good bit of tube feel and sound, but you can also hear the SS and digital circuitry in there. Definatley much less digital than any other modelers ive heard. All the presets sound good, but Ive mostly been using the UK80's (jcm800) and the US higain (Soldano) amp models. With the delay I can get a great lead tone. All the vintage sounds are there too, but I rarely need them.

It also has a line out with 412 cabinet simulation which is awesome for direct recording. I decided to try it out direct into Protools tonight a came up with a random little jam with my roomate (Dreamsound). I used his Jackson DXMG w/ D Sonic bridge pickup into the VOX head direct. I just started jamming to some drum beat while Fernando was messing around on the keyboards. My ultra random solo is pretty bad cuz i didnt even know he was recording, so try not to cringe. I used the UK80s preset and the only thing I changed was I added a bit of treble and mids (maybe too much) for the rythem track. the solo is the standard UK80s preset with delay. The sound still needs alot of tweaking, I just wanted to do the first recording with it using just the basic pre settings. Keep in mind this is just us messing around while we learn how to record, we just got a ton of equipment and dont know how to really use it yet.

Right on...I have the Vox Tonelab SE, and I love it and I am very content with my set up. Finding one's set up is truly a satisfying experience. Keep rockin!

Nice man! I've always been impressed with the Valvetronix series.
